We have recently got a new van that came with a 6 kg bottle of gas, I asked when we picked the van up how long it would last, ages was the response. We went to vanbitz for alarm fitting 2 nights and then called at Winchester for 1 night for Christmas market and the gas ran out.

We have alde heating and had it set to electric only as we had used the heat exchanger driving down. We have just got a safefill 7.5 kg bottle and put 10 litres in.
We are off in the van for 3 nights should the 10 litres be enough? I suspect the bottle that came with the van was not a full one.

Why did you only put in 10 litres they should take 14 to 15 litres.? Best to fill up if you have an outlet handy
.but 10 litre should last you 5 days minimum. Was the cylinder supplied a calor? If youvswsp this just keep it as a back up for your safefill but best to keep that topped up when you can.

New bottle takes 10 Litres on 1st fill, will probably get a 10kg as well once they are back in stock

1 litre a day in winter as a rule of thumb.
2-3 liters a week in summer

But it all depends on level of winterisation in your van, temperatures and usage, everyone is different.
Thanks puts my mind at ease for this trip 👍

I thought you were off grid and running everthing on gas as that's our norm.

I like it warm, when it's cold outside I can use 3KG or 6 litres a day. When I am winter mountaineering I am out in the cold all day, I like to get back and sit in my pants (don't judge me). :)

We hardly ever use hookup though so that's fridge, water, heating the lot.

In summer about 1KG every 2 or 3 days.

That's also with 4 of us in here showering and cooking so the water heater also works overtime.

Calor is a no no for the amount of gas we use.

If you are using gas for heating at this time of year then 1 x 11KG cylinder a week has always been my experience.
Which is why I have moved to using a chinese diesel heater with separate tank for red diesel. works out cheaper.

If on hookup, you will lose friends rapidly if you try to heat your vehicle purely on electric.

Just my thoughts.

Hmm.

Is that the right way around?

10ltrs should see you okay for 3 days. Would suggest you swap to larger bottles if weight permits.

Our fridge uses 1 Lt a day.
Wel if you will keep opening it to see the pretty blue light! You were a moth in a former life weren't you! 😆

Sorry, total newbie. We have alde heating in our van. Yet to use it on the road. Re the heat exchanger, how does that work? I've got a fan system under the driver's seat which I can put on high or low while driving which gets really toasty (advised only to use the low setting from the handbook) We've only used the alde heating to keep the van at 10°c over night so far via the gas. I should have listened better to the seller 😬

Fridge and cooking should use very little. We manage about 2 weeks on our 11KG bottle in the summer.

Heating using gas is the thing that will consume in the winter.

Total newbie as well.
On the alde control panel turn it on select desired heat and on our system the panel selects the pump automatically. I believe on some systems there is a switch to turn the circulation pump on.
The instructions aren’t clear re using the heat exchanger.
