Lights okay but goes out as soon as you let go. Flame is as bright and powerful as other 2. Cant see anything wrong with it. But I'm no expert. Any ideas ?

Sounds a similar prob to this one from Saturday (e.g. a faulty or badly set thermocouple).

You'll need to learn about thermocouples - the device that sits in the flame and when hot holds gas open, if it gets cool (like flame blown out etc...) it's job is to shut off the gas. Clever and very simple widget.

Another for thermo-couple.
When it's hot it holds the valve open.... If its faulty, or out of the flame, it can't hold the valve open.

Just had this on one burner of a Smev hob. The FFD thermocouple required a push towards the burner. It wasn't visibly out of position and moved a tiny amount - but it solved the problem permanently. They're 'held' in place by a spire nut and an inconsiderate wipe with a dishcloth is all it takes.
