Hello

I'm struggling to get my gas through into the van via the gaslow.

The gaslow system is showing both gauges as green. I've just tried to fill up but I couldn't get more than £2 into the bottles so I am assuming they are full.

The carthago control panel is flashing a gas bottle with an R in it. Again I assume this is the reserve?!

Can anybody say if the gauge is green or that full? And also I can't get hot water so it's their anything I need to reset to get it to work?

Also just to double check, lefty Lucy will open the gas canister?!

I've attached some pictures to show my system

Cheers

Anything else work on gas?
Sometimes the regulator causes a problem a gentle knock or two may be a temp fix.
Has the the crash cut off button been pushed in?

The stove seemed to work on gas

Are the valves open on top of the bottles, they have an arrow showing open and close
I'll double check but I just turned them both anti clockwise to open them

Where would I find the crash cut off button?

Crash cut out button is the green one you can see on your photo, but if cooker and fridge are working ok won't be that.
Has it been in for service/ habitation check? Has the tap to the boiler been switched off?

It depends what regulator you have but sometimes a yellow or green button that just needs a push. There are likely to be reset instructions in your manual that came with the van. If in doubt put photo's of the rest of the installation on here to when it exits the gas cupboard and someone will advise.

It has been in for a service however the gas was working too heat the water last night, just at the end of the night it seemed to stop and not our just cold, which made me think we'd run out of gas

When you light all rings on the hob do they all burn at full flow? If not, could well be a faulty regulator. We had the new fail and while the hob lit it was at very low level. The boiler needs a really good flow of gas. Replaced the regulator and had no problems thereafter with that van.

Do you have crash safety buttons on each hose for each cylinder? Are they both open?

have you got a gas manifold in a cupboard with a tap for each of your appliances. has the boiler one been accidentally turned off

Please try not to laugh too much.

I've since realised that the gas is in fact full...I just didn't wait long enough for the water to get hot 🤕

I think I've found a niche in the market....a camp site designed for only newbie motorhomers where you can stay for a couple of nights and have an experienced professional on hand 24/7 for any queries. Maybe that happens anyway? I'm yet to stay on one!

While you and we can see the funny side of the situation, you shouldn't beat yourself up. We all started somewhere on this journey, and I suspect most Funsters are honest enough to admit making mistakes that seemed silly afterwards. Mine was on an early rally where I had someone else help as I couldn't get the water to pressurise by the pump was working. I was doing a lovely job of irrigating the grass under the van via the frost protector that I had left open the last time I had put the van away. It's often said there is no such thing as a stupid question and this a case in point, and just to show how daft we all are, no-one thought to ask how long you were waiting.

It will not be long before you are chipping in to help others using your own experiences.

I’m picking up our first motorhome next week and the dealer has included a night (2 were offered) on their nearby site so I can check everything is working, and find out what I’ve forgotten from the handover that afternoon. Any issues would hopefully get clarified or rectified before I drive home.
Expect to get my luggage searched before my flight, a kettle, pans, and bowl as well as my sleeping bag and travel pillow may be unusual.
I wonder if my plastic cutlery, or my spork will be allowed as cabin luggage? 🤔

If I was you, I'd be taking the dealer up on their offer of two nights, seeing as it's your first MH, as the most modern ones can be a huge learning curve to a newbie, even if you have had a day van.

Good luck with the handover. 👍

Jock. :)

I can't wait until I can start giving advice back to the forum. Honestly this is the best money I've spent other than buying the van itself!

This is a great process. I wish I had this. It would have saved us so much stress
