I currently have two 13kg Calor bottles, I haven’t been abroad yet in my mh but hope to do some long trips in the next couple of years in Europe and beyond.
I’ve read on here lpg is getting harder to come by both home and abroad. I am considering fitting Gas It bottles firstly to save on gas but also for future travel.
Should I replace both Calor bottles or just one???

Thanks
Ben

We changed both and no regrets. Download the app mylpg.eu to find suppliers

Both, no contest for us.

Both, or fit an underslung tank the advantage being you get to use the old gas locker as storage space.

If I was replacing both I'd go for one 13Kg and one 6Kg, you'll find that you save weight and won't run out of gas before finding a refill spot for the 13Kg...

Cheers

I wouldnt bother keeping Calor, they are getting hard to find as well as expensive. No problem with getting lpg in France and Spain.
Although there are getting to be less outlets in UK its still not a problem as you can fill up any time, you dont have to wait till youre getting low.

Just got back from a trip to Turkey, it was cold and snowing going out so heating on at night plus of course hot water and fridge.
Coming back just water and fridge.
Never bothered with EHU even where it was available, I was so confident in the gas it.
I have two,6 kg bottles. The fitter advised me not to bother with gauges, said they were not particularly reliable but if I wanted them he would supply and fit. He suggested just wait till one empties change it over ( so simple) and then fill up when you pass a convenient PFS, Nearly every service station supplies LPG on the continent.
I even surprised myself by doing it myself with the supplied adapter.
I found that abroad there is no pressure from other motorists queuing behind you, they seemed so much more patient. Perhaps they saw the UK plate and decided this bloke is going to be farting about so they avoided me!
Best thing I’ve had fitted.

Both. That way you can not worry about the disappearing supply in the uk.

Not sure I’m confident enough to fit an Underslung myself, although I could be convinced.

I would definitely swop the calor for refillable. It’s the best thing I have added to my motorhome,

I fitted 2 x 11kgs Gaslow system 4 years ago and it must have paid for itself i'd have thought by now, its so easy so for me its a must

my next addition could well be a compressor tower but only when our 3 way one packs up if it ever does

Sorry, my next addition are 2 x 280ah Fogstar Lifepo4 batteries on thursday :clap2:

Ok thanks everybody I’m sold.
I’m going to order the 2x 11kg kit with external filler. I have truma crash sensors so I assume my best bet is to also order adapters to use my existing pipe work to fit the gas it bottles?

Look at Alugas if you want to save some payload as well. We have 2x11kg and are just coming to the end of the first cylinder after 8 weeks touring Greece etc. Admittedly that’s solely for cooking/BBQ as we have a compressor fridge, but refillables are the way to go.

Firstly don’t believe the hype about not being able to get lpg. I work seasonal delivering lpg and it is
highly unlikely to disappear in the near future.

We have 2x11kg Gaslow fitted. Van is 3 years old and the system has probably paid for itself in money saved in that short period.
I have never had a problem getting gas in 🇬🇧 or France. It’s easy to just top up as you’re passing when you see it.
I called Gaslow and they gave me a number of a company to call to order. They fit as well. Seems daft but it works and cheapest out there.

In short. Go for it (y)

Sorry to hijack the thread on gas but not heard of these batteries. Are they any good?
Looking to get lithium upgrade soon with inverter but haven’t a clue as yet.

I’ve got one Fogstar 280ah, it’s got a charging issue where it overcharges, but I keep an eye on it and switch off charging when necasssary, not a problem really. Fogstar gave me a full refund.👍

I hope they are good but they aren't as good as the ones i'm selling tbh

let me know if your interested in a pair of Super B Lifepo4 batteries 95ah, rrp when purchased just over a year ago was circa £2600 each

I'm wanting £1500 for the pair which I think are very cheap

So they refunded in full and let you keep the battery?

Thats quite good if so (y)

Edit: thats very good

how did you find out it was overcharging and what were the signs

The bms protect system cuts in and switches off charging. It used to overcharge on on all charging methods, however it’s now fine on hook up and solar, I just have to turn off charging when almost full when using b2b.

We have just started our 90 days in France. We are discussing if we want to change van or just upgrade batteries to be off grid more and not using site electric.
Obviously cheaper to do batteries but still a 4-5k upgrade.
Decision not made yet but will keep you in mind
