Gas Gauge on Tunnel

Hi all,

I've never used the Tunnel before, but being forced to cancel the Seafrance crossing in December (by DirectFerries), the cheapest crossing was with the Tunnel.

I was just reading the rules on Gas transport and the rules state;

"This filling rate will be checked via the gauge. If no gauge is present, the vehicle will be refused."

I assume this is just relevant to a refillable system and not Calor.

I presume that you are talking about gas cylinders not gas tank. Gas cylinders are only checked to see that they are turned off, we have never been asked about levels (we don't have a level gauge) and we frequently use the tunnel

Check this link out Craig. We have only carried 2 bottles in the gas locker & they just check to ensure it is turned off. Gas Powered vehicles are a No No

Used the tunnel yesterday Folkestone - Calais.

Just asked to pull over to the UK customs check area in the lane indicated.

Pleasant chap asked to see the gas bottle locker and took 5 seconds to confirm the bottles were off, then off we went, no sweat.

We were travelling in tandem with an MPV and were instructed in an authorative manner that we could use the same lane but HAD to load after the MPV, in effect we were both held so that we were the last vehicles to load (no other MH's or caravans).

I guess it's so that vehicles carrying gas are the most accessible?
