I appreciate I might get tarred, feathered and have to wear the pointy "D" hat for this question, but can we use our external gaslow filler point as an outlet to run a BBQ? I naturally throught it was a one way fill-only point, but life is teaching me the dangers of assumption.

Your assumption in this case is correct. The high pressure inlet filler point is one way only. You’ll need to have a take off for a BBQ point on the low pressure side after the regulator.

Thanks for confirming. At least I have another good reason to take my calor bottle to France now.

I have seen BBQ points used as a gas inlet on sites in Spain. Connected to a local gas bottle and regulator stood alongside the MoHo. So much wrong re safety, no automatic shutoff if a hose breaks, but seen frequently.
Stay safe.

There is only one recognised method of connecting an external gas cylinder to a leisure vehicle, it’s actually very precisely described in BSEN 1949 2021
We sell a GOK kit that complies with all the requirements but unfortunately there’s so many other products that people believe are acceptable.
We do sell other manufacturers components but when asked I tell the customer the truth but most are only interested in the cost .
I doubt any campsites would actually accept the GOK external cylinder connection as they wouldn’t have a clue ⚠️

Exactly the same as any leisure vehicle (or appliance) still using a bottle mounted regulator then? Or am I missing something?

One of the main reasons for changing the leisure vehicle regulators was that when the cheap single stage bottle mounted regulators failed they do so to full bottle pressure which resulted in some very serious accidents.
For some strange reason the NCC doesn’t seem to understand that there’s plenty of leisure vehicle bottle mounted regulators that incorporate the over pressure protection.
So in Germany they build leisure vehicles with bottle mounted regulators that fully comply with all the requirements of the regulations.
We now stock a few but unfortunately most owners and even professionals haven’t got a clue what the differences are ⚠️

They are also sold by lots of other camping shops etc ( I just copied the first link that came up!). We have a bullfinch external BBQ point but the cadac trio power pack has added an extra dimension. Smaller and lighter than carrying a gas cylinder around aswell

That's good to know. With the correct regulator feeding through a BBQ point seems like a safe and convenient option. Perhaps the availability of regulators with over-pressure protection should be both better publicised and offered as the default option for any appliance using a bottle-top regulator.
