Hi,

Just bought an old LHD Hymer (1999) and not sure what the gas set up is and whether or not can fill up the main tank. The filler isn't a a UK gaslow, I'm guessing it is a European? I could keep this set up if I can fill the large bottle here.

Hi, sorry I don't know much about them, but it's probably over 10 years old and according to the latest guidance, should be scrapped.

They look like standard exchange bottles. If so they wouldn't have the 80% shut off valve built into them. Other expert opinions will be along shortly.
Mike.

Scrap it all.

And make sure the replacement bottle outlets are above the (new) regulator.

The filler point may have been disconnected and refillable bottles removed and replaced with calor type exchange bottles.
The fill point doesn't look to be well used.

I think, tracing the hose from the filler point back, that it goes to the right hand bottle but I may be mistaken!

The bottle on the left is definitely a Calor Non refillable bottle.
I would be checking over the whole set up as it looks like it needs a bit of TLC , there also appears to be a flexible pipe from the regulator into the van which I would be looking at very closely.

Edit: it looks like only the right bottle is possibly connected to the external filler. The left bottle appears to be only connected to the valve above the regulator.

Any advice about the cheapest way to remodel this set up?! Will be going to Europe as well, so thinking Gaslow, but expensive. Is there a way of combining Gaslow with this left hand exchange bottle?

Being practical,
First you need to check the type and date of the right hand bottle if that’s all good then you just need to update the pipe work.

The filler point you have if serviable is fine you just need the adapters for uk and eu.

The set up appears to be for 1 refillable and 1 exchange bottle.

That’s an old TBturbos refillable lpg cylinder so is definitely out of date .
Cheapest equivalent is probably the RV cylinder.
You need to check the required gas pressure for your appliances as it may well have originally been 50 mbar .
That 37mbar regulator isn’t really suitable for a leisure vehicle but it’s extremely difficult to obtain any 37 mbar regulators that are .
