BENIMAR BENIVAN 122
hiya everyone, ive got a benimar campervan 122 on a ducato chassis.i have been told,by a reputable caravan and motorhome engineer, that my van being all metal doesnt need a full habitation service, just a gas check, saying its £150 for a service and about £45 for a gas check.has anyone else heard this please?

I don't know the specific vehicle you have. But I'd have thought in addition to the gas the habitation electrics should be checked. I'd want it done for peace of mind.

There are lots of different views about whether hab checks are a waste of money. Being a metal van might reduce the chances of water ingress a bit but there are still windows, skylights and hatches cut into the metal and most leaks probably start with sealant failure around these. Other than that all the onboard kit is the same in a van or a motorhome.

Thanks Andy, I've just had a chat with another engineer who suggested exactly that,so yes, it's going to get that done as well, again, many thanks 👍 👍

When our 2 previous PVCs were out of warranty we used to take them to a very good chap near us in Chard called Caravan and Motohome solutions. He charged less for a hab check on a PVC than a coachbuilt or A class as although he still did a full check he felt it was criminal to charge the same as they were generally smaller and so much quicker and easier to do! He said it was unusual to find damp in a van where the owner didn’t already know about a leak around a window or door.
