Good morning

I read about a gas BBQ using remote triple gas canisters, but cannot find the thread, could someone send me the info and recommendations on which model to buy

many thanks

Bob

Not sure what you mean by "remote triple gas canisters"
Gas bbqs can use a number of different types of gas canisters but triple ?

Edit : ah, thanks ontheroadagain not seen those before, what's the point I wonder, seems an expensive way to do it ,?

Hi

We have just bought our MoHo and are complete novices. It the article it said canisters were more efficient

Very unlikely.
If you fit an external BBQ point in the side of your motorhome, you just plug the hose into it and the BBQ will use the gas in your main cylinder. It will cost you approx. £150 to have one fitted, but is much more convenient and will be cheaper in the long run.

I have a external bbq and they are convenient, but you do need a long hose or the side of you van gets a bit of grill splatter.
As an alternative, I bought a cadac regulator that screws onto a EN417 gas canister and a quick release fitting to the cadac bbq.
I tend to use this now, which is effectively what the triple does.
A single canister will do me for 4-5 bbq sessions easily, so I'd doubt you need the close backup of 2 spare canisters ?

Use of the triple cannister fitting on anything but largest of platter sized grills seems overkill. Just another bulky thing to cart around and you'd need to carry at least three spares for when they run out together. One cannister works just fine for me.

Installed BBQ gas points aren't possible on all vans especially smaller ones. Also restricts your grill to use close to van - I dunno about others but burgers, bangers and stuff fat splashes seem to have some range to them so do you want to keep washing down your MH?

If you buy Cadac type you can get low pressure that would work off the installed bottle and a hose/regulator add on for the high pressure cannister.

Choice of BBQ can depend on how many you are likely to cook for at once, and space available for storage. As a singleton the Safari Chef works for me bug will be too small for many.

I like my Cadac but as evident from many other threads on Fun there are many who don't get on with them. Biggest issues are cleaning and susceptible to blowing out when windy. A good windbreak is useful. I use mine almost every day in preference to stinking out the van with fried food smells.

Oh and many will say the Cadac gas things, like many portable grille/stoves aren't a BBQ as you need charcoal

I have a regulator + 2m pipe + quick coupling rigged up to my spare gas bottle.
When I need to cook it's open the locker door, clip on the gas pipe and light!

I have used the little cadac Safari Chef for many years. great for breakfasts and chilis using the upturned lid.
Bit Confused about these EN417 cartridges are these the ones that go into the single burner "suitcase" cookers or are they the threaded ones like the camping Gaz ones that you can screw on to open the valve?

Hi Mike
All I have seen is on a thread, 3 aerosols in a pack and a funster commenting what a good alternative to the main bottle they are
