Garage flooring in Motorhome - What’s on yours?

We tried that stuff but it ripped when sliding stuff in.
Now have thick rubber matting
I guess firstly it depends what quality you use, there is cheap and not cheap, most may go for cheapo and regret it. What I have is used in gyms so should take weight, also I have a very tidy garage so won't be throwing stuff around, I understand some people do rufty tufty stuff and need hardcore flooring on theirs, get what suits your needs, I didn't say everyone should get it, just showed what I had done and how to get around the tie down anchors, could have been any material plus the MO is the same, at least I have a template now if something in the future, just take it out and fix it together and cut round it (y)

I guess I could also put rubber matting on the top, maybe that is the perfect solution, depends if you want it soft or hard and what you are carrying.

Altro flooring in mine, its super tough, waterproof and looks smart

I also wanted to protect the brand ne motorhome from getting any marks on it ?
Shame our dealer doesn't appreciate that ... you do NOT want ? to know what they've done to our pride and joy today!

I fitted it so things DO NOT slide. plus I have lights in there so nothing is in the dark :D, its also padded so protects the dive gear (y)
Re-breather or OC?

We looked at re breathers but too much maintenance and kit to carry around, we just carry BCD’s drysuit/wetsuits dependent on location and climate, regs, fins, masks, computers, spares, underwater camera kit etc all stowed in dry bags

Gear gulpers are good for stopping kit rolling around if you have space/twinsets likewise with a small wedge (although heavier).

Oh yes we do
They SCRATCHED him!!!!! ?

Hubby took it to them to getting some stuff sorted (another thread to follow about it all) and when it was done technician walked past it and caught the offside garage door with the end of a drill bit ... we've now got a wavy scratch about 10 inches long horizontally across the centre of the door which has gone through the outer layer of paint! Why the hell does it always have to happen to us!!!!! :crying: (When our previous camper went in for warranty stuff at Fiat they scraped it! :swear: ).

Hubby was extremely unhappy as you can imagine and told them that I'd go 'ape sh*t' when he rang me ... fortunately I didn't do that, but did go a bit 'monkey poo'! ?

I spoke to the workshop chap who offered to have it painted but no way was I gonna accept that as, having had a Rapido 'professionally' painted in the past due to an issue with a failing door, we know how crap it could be (door replaced in the end). The next option was to change it for another door as they had another new Carthago with the same size door BUT it didn't have the flock interior. They therefore suggested that they use the replacement door and have the interior covered in the same flock material as we already had (from Carthago) BUT it won't be held 'behind' the door frame itself (as it's put on before the door is framed) so would have to be stuck to the interior panel and just butt-up to the frame ... this was the only realistic option so we reluctantly agreed to this and also that they will come to us to fit the new door once it has been flocked.

As it was dark when hubby got home last night (he had a horrendous trip there and back - nearly 4hrs each way instead of 2hrs 30m) I couldn't look to see what the scratch was like but this morning I saw it ... it doesn't appear to have 'dented' the door so we're now reconsidering what to do as we really do NOT want to risk them doing something else to our pride and joy when they come to fit the new door and/or in case there's an issue with the replacement. Hubby's gonna ring them tomorrow and see if they are willing to give us 'compensation' instead as it will cost them a fair bit to get the material, pay a professional to cut & stick it on the new door, then travel to us, spend time here fitting it (along with baskets and alarm sensor) then drive back and they'd still then have the repair to do on our door. If they agree we'll see if we can get some quality decals to put on it ... perhaps Minxy Girl! ::bigsmile:

It's very, very annoying though - they were very apologetic and we appreciate it was just a silly accident but we are totally and utterly fed-up now ... our new baby has been 'injured' and we haven't even used him yet! :crying1:

Its got aluminium sides ... this is a new motorhome which cost MORE than your Swift Tupperware box.

The problem is you can't buy class :D Its an aluminium box on wheels, people are ill and dying and we are worrying about things/stuff, I realised that with my bed, now I feel more chilled as I had a reality check and realised myself its just a thing.

I bought a motorhome to do a job, not because I wanted something to show off, I have put an old numberplate on mine and covered it up, I love gadgets and technology but have no emotions over stuff (y)

That's a bummer, I feel for you. Get it sprayed and move on, dwelling on these sort of things does no good, it only stresses you out, easy said then done I know. Get you baby fixed and enjoy

I have the Hymer thin rubber mat, that it came with , It used to be in and out like a yo-yo so I could sop up the water from the leaking door. I fixed that and now we sometimes get a bit of condensation under the mat so leaving it there, loose as was. Luckily it is GRP so water does do anything

Absolutely love that response! Cock on!

With respect to you Minxy.....You had it from Dobbies garden centre in Cannock. Over priced and poorly backed up! Prove me wrong please!

Now then ... we're Yorkshire folk born and bred so we don't do 'over-priced'! :giggle:

We got a very, very good deal, better than any of the competition and they've included more stuff than anyone else had offered to do. Someone else is looking for a Compactline 138 and can't source an in-stock new model for anything like the price we paid, some older used ones are available but even the 2018 'new' one that we turned down has now sold.

We can't actually fault the dealer from the point of view of sorting out stuff for us, it's just hassle we could've done without.

PS: Dobbies is at Gailey, it's the workshop that's at Cannock.

have chips away or one of the other specialists do the repair at your home. guaranteed for the life of the vehicle and properly colour matched. It is what the trade do for such issues

Have Swift surreptitiously installed a pheromone device in your MH to make you fall in love with it, despite it's issues? Or have you been taking some happy pills? ?

Is this the same 596 (or 596a) who was spitting feathers for ages and ages about trivial stuff??? ?

You're an imposter aren't you! What have you done with 596!!! o_O

There you go see ...Gailey to us folk here in the midlands (Cannock area ) Look at Gailey has being Cannock. The works shops are actually at Norton Canes behind the Yew tree pub Jerome Rd....Which is also classed as Cannock . I know...its odd? Being foreigners from Yorkshire though ...I can understand how you have got it incorrect.
Joking aside....They are good at their job having had one from them. The real problem with the workshop is the reception area! Struth.....it needs doing up!
They will look after you though 100% Guaranteed...

I shall instantly go and give my husband a bashing as he said it was at Cannock :giggle: ... I suppose I should know better by now and not trust him to get it right (he's cr@p at navigating too!).

Apparently they are having premises built a few miles away which will be much bigger/better with proper workshop bays etc as where they are now is just too small, probably why the 'accident' happened in the first place.

Ouch !

I do feel for you guys a new MoHo and a careless technician is hard not to get upset over. I hope its all will get fixed soon.

We have a Mark on our furniture appear post habitation check, it looks like a tool bag was thrown in to our MoHo there is no way we did it as it is not in an area we have bags etc so it is very frustrating when this happens. Next time there will be a hand over inspection and post work inspection done as well.

I put some very heavy non slip rubber matting on my garage floor does the job perfectly but to compensate the weight increase if decided to leave the wife at home when travelling, works perfect ?

I put a little graze on the rear bumper of our Hymer last month, just after a year of ownership. In a strange way I was relieved, at some point you know its going to get damaged, either from overgrown hedges or other drivers, now I no longer have to worry.

If, down the line we decide to sell, I may get it fixed, but you can guarantee as soon as I do I'll no doubt get another scratch- that's the rules.
