Galicia northern Spain campsite openings.

Hi,
planning a trip out to the top northern coast of Spain, hopefully getting to Galicia. Is there a general time that the campsites open or is it a matter of trolling through each sites website?!

Not many sites open in Galicia in winter. Not like the south. You might find the odd one of you are lucky.

Thanks for the comments. Was thinking of end of May…I’ve heard some sites may still be closed at that time!!

Just looked at places I stayed a few years back: Cámping Orio opens 2 March, Caravaning Oyambre opens 31st March and Camping As Cancelas in Santiago de Compostelo open all year round, so likely you’ll be ok from early March onwards.

Thanks for the comments. Was thinking of end of May…I’ve heard some sites may still be closed at that time!!

I was there in May and didn’t encounter any closed sites in that region. I was mainly on the coast, maybe different inland?

A lot of sites, and don't hold me to this, open for Easter and then stay open. Easter holiday this year is from 2nd to 9th April.

If the weather is good in Galicia, in May, you'll have a lovely time.

Not sure how you feel about Aires but there are numerous ones all along the north coast with water and waste facilities.

I’m fine with the odd aire now and then. Going to start looking properly now.

it’ll be a Plymouth Roscoff ferry and a couple of days down through France. Looked at the Santander route but we can save a bit going through France. The journey is part of it anyway!

it’ll be good to try out the new compressor fridge in earnest. I’ve upgraded the fan to a quiet PC one and sound insulted the back, can barely hear it during the wee hours, just a slight very low hum, no annoying clicking on and off. The freezer goes down to minus 10 on setting 1.5 and the beer and fizz are properly cold unlike the 3 way we had! The fridge is larger, freezer section larger, fits in the same space and weighs less than the original did. Also has a white light inside instead of annoying blue..
