Fusing the positive terminal of a leisure battery and connecting the loads.

I'm a Total Newbie!
I'd love to hear how you guys do it.

At the moment I am thinking about having a 200A cube fuse and holder (like this: https://tinyurl.com/cubefuse) attached to the positive LB terminal.

The issue with that is the cube fuse holder means you can only attach one wire to the terminal, so that would have to be a cable to a power block. And as I want five things attached to the positive side of the battery (12v fuse block, solar charge controller, inverter, B2B and battery master) that means buying 2X 4 post 250A power blocks. And that cost a lot of money.


My questions to you are:

1. How do you guys fuse your positive leisure battery terminals?
2. Could more than one item be safely connected to each post on the power block?
3. Any better ideas than what I have?

I only have two connections to the leisure battery, one is the feed from the solar panel controller and the other is to a 12v fuse box with 10 terminals, easier to fix things to that using connectors than the battery. Not sure about the inverter though.
iIgnore me I see you use a 12v fuse box anyway
 
I use a 200amp circuit breaker fairly close to the 240Ah lithium leisure battery positive and then a cable to a bus bar that each of my circuits are fed from. Each circuit is then individually fused.
I also have a shunt for the Victron BMV 700 battery monitor on the negative of the leisure battery which is then cabled to a bus bar for the negative of the circuits.

With using a circuit breaker it's re-settable which a fuse is not without replacing it.

make a bus bar just a strip of metal drilled and bolt through if you want fuses use mega fuses and bolt to them

I use megafuses in each cable to inverter etc. The battery terminals are just conventional. I've not heard of cube fuses so not sure of their advantage. :)

Thanks, DBK! Does that mean there there is no need to fit a fuse to the LB +tive terminal if each outgoing load is individually fused in it's +tive wire? Or (likely) have I misunderstood what you mean by using megafuses in each cable to the inverter?

Yes, if you fuse each load separately that will work fine. The fuses should be as close to the + terminal as reasonably possible, say within a foot.

You've saved me a fortune!

2 X 250A Power block was about £60. Plus the extra wire and the cube fuse and cube fuse holder.

A battery terminal extender so I can attach everything onto the LB +tive battery terminal is about £10.
