Next Sunday we are off to Europe for four weeks. We are currently intending to tour the Loire Valley, then over to Alsace and the Christmas Market at Strasbourg.

However, if the fuel situation is bad, (we like to move on which uses fuel), we will visit the Rhine and Moselle instead.

Does anyone have any real time information on the current situation?

We've just come back this afternoon and it's still very mixed, diesel available in some places but not in others. One supermarket may have it but the next doesn't, there's no rhyme or reason to it. Saying that though we haven't seen any queues for fuel over the last few days.

We have been working our way across the bottom of France , as Helen says it’s very patchy in terms of availability.

We have seen some queues but mainly in big towns , and the price is variable . On the autoroutes fuel seems to be available.

One place the other day had no queue at one petrol station but a big queue at another one which was definitely due to the price.

We haven’t dropped below 3/4 full this past month , carefully keeping an eye out as we are on route to avoid stress .

It has been easy enough to keep it full but we haven’t been particularly price savvy.

We have made our way from Calais to Dordogne via Mons in Belgium. Saw none closed or queues in the north and only a couple closed on our fairly long drive south. Prices do vary so that could affect where the queues are.
Situation so easy that we are relaxed about filling up and only do it when we cannot reach our next destination. That is, filled up twice so far.

Been in France for two weeks currently in the Dordogne, odd garage has been out but no concerns really.

Things definitely seem to be improving. No longer see filling stations completely closed up like we did 10 days ago. We drove past the Total, BP, and Shell refineries to the west of Marseille yesterday, and they all appeared to be active. Prices for diesel really are all over the place though. In the last 24 hours I've seen a range of €1.70 to €2.30 a litre for diesel. But you're unlikely now to run out. Just look to fill up once you're below half full at the first garage that appears reasonable and hasn't got a massive queue.

Filled up at Total energies in Gravelines this morning at E1.75 a litre No shortages from Trier upwards to Dunkirk but there was last week, as others have said it is improving all the time and a bit hit and miss price wise. Just got back home 30 mins ago a bit wet and busy journey home

Came back from Paris this morning, no obvious issues. Auto routes seemed to have availability and no queues also filled up at a supermarket, again readily available.

Back home yesterday from France. We had no problems filling up with diesel or gas. I would say 1 in 10 doesn’t have fuel. We saw no queues for fuel anywhere. Just the occasional fuel station with zero fuel. Certainly don’t avoid based on headlines. We nearly did, but had zero probs.

I’m in France right now and haven’t seen any petrol stations with no fuel. It’s obviously different in some areas but so far no problems.

Caught out in Austria avoiding the 1.98 e prices in italy and ended up having to pay 2.44 euros on the motorway

Came back up the middle (Beziers - Lyon - Dijon - Reims - Lille) on the 27/8th, and then back to Calais on the 29th, no fuel shortages. Paid the € equivalent of around £1.60, a bit less at the truckstop out the back of Calais.

We are based in the Charente Maritime near Junction 34 of the A10 (St Jean d'Angely) and have not experienced any problems with fuel supplies during the latest crisis. Prices yesterday at local Leclerc garage were €1.7 for E10 and €1.9 for diesel.

Cam back monday. Drove from Somport through to calais. No shortages. Some of the Total Energy stations run out of diesel as they were selling it at 20c less than anywhere else.

Is Macron's 30 cents discount still in place?
It was due to be reduced to 10 centimes on the 1st Nov but has now been extended until 14th to allow those in areas where there were shortages to fill-up at a reduced price once the strikes were over. Rumours of further extensions abound but it is all political so who knows?!

Just last week travelled up from St Tropez area and had no problems but some fuel stations were out. Our last fill up was in Calaise and the 1st 2 stations were out of diesel at the cheaper price but at the Auchen further down no problem . The new aires there for 10 euros a night was secure and excellent for the last night before the tunnel.
