Not that I’ve been looking over the years but I don’t think you see many Motorhomes or PVC’s with mudflaps fitted. My friend fitted front ones to his new PVC recently to give some protection to the side step.

Any thoughts on whether they are worth fitting or not, they seem to be a thing of the past on new cars these days.

No idea. I have them front and back, they were cheap enough, but how do I know if they're working? Seem OK. I can see that they'd work for front steps, plus they must reduce stone chips. I've had them for more than 5 years on my PVC. So they must be working. It's got to be worth a few pounds, hasn't it? I bought the OEM versions, much less than the FIAT printed ones, but they're sturdy and still on after all that time. Go for it.

I fitted the Citroen / Peugeot version rather than the more expensive Fiat front flaps (never got round to fitting the rear). Seems to have reduced a lot of the stuff that would splatter the cill and bottom of the driver/passenger door. As the bottom of the van curves inwards the front wheels do protrude the base of the vehicle behind the wheel arch so the flaps provide some coverage.

What I don't know is how much the flap will encourage rubbish to get trapped in the metalwork channels at the base of the wheel arch, now partly covered by the flap so that the general water whooshing around whilst driving might not be enough for any self cleansing of said channel risking corrosion?

We have the usual front ones on our van, but it would be better if they were a smidge bigger (wider) as we do suffer from splatter (especially the near side due to narrow roads and muddy verges)
The wooden floor directly behind the back wheels looked a bit vulnerable and had tiny mud flaps fitted (only a couple of inches deep) I removed these and bought one of those "bristly" type wagon mud flaps from a local factors, cut them in half and fitted them in place of the stubby ones.

I fitted some and they work well ,not so cheap but hey they save a lot of dirt and stones bashing the bodywork .I think I paid about £60 for the four easy to fit with a slight mod to rear flaps needed a small bolt to ensure tight fit bought the full kit from a Peugeot/Citroen dealer online . Quite happy with how they look and work .
