This thread is for the general discussion of the parking spot Frinton on Sea. Please add to the discussion here.

I think the whole seafront has "no motorhome" signs

Has it changed since last year? I was there September time, Google street view 2019 shows signs saying no goods vehicles coaches and overnight camping but that's all. Clacton does have some signs saying no Campervans or motorhomes in some roadside parking.

We have seen signs stopping parking of campervans at the front in frinton,as our only form of transport that we us to take dog for a walk on the beach and have done so for a few year, and to take grandchildren to beach .we pay our road tax how can this be right.

Went there yesterday (21 September 2021) and yes, new signs up banning caravans, camper vans and Motorhomes from the entire length of the front, this covers the echelon and parallel parking areas.
Some discussion elsewhere about the legality of the signs (references to Traffic Signs Manual etc etc) but reading between the lines, everyone is waiting and watching for someone else to take up the case with Tendring Council/North Essex Parking Partnership.
Purely anecdotal comments arising from yesterday’s visit but there were references to lots of MH’s on seafront at times with awnings out, chairs up, bbq’s lit. I suppose it’s not the sort of activity the good folks of Frinton want to have literally on their doorstep.

Well if they don't want me then I will spend my money elsewhere.

Very true, but the problem (particularly for me being near Chelmsford) is that Tendring Council cover a lot of coastline and have applied the same set of rules to all seaside locations in their area

Think you can still park in side roads ,
and walk to the beech.

its all kinds of indiscriminate car parking
during school holidays aug/ sept
including horse boxes
parking indiscriminately

Frinton residents wouldn’t have sainsburys
in Connaught ave frinton on sea
till they toned down their frontage (darker red )

wouldn’t have a pub or a fish and chippy
till recently
not that I am biased I live outside the gates
in kirby cross :Eeek:

That’s exactly what we did yesterday, moved into a residential area and parked outside a very expensive looking house.
No doubt some folks will be a bit ticked off about all this as larger vehicles are displaced into side roads.
Notwithstanding the parking issue, Frinton is still a lovely place and is now reaping the benefits of having taken some pretty tough decisions over the years

We can still park at cliff carpark Felixstowe but there are rumours that motorhomes will banned soon.
Not surprised as its overlooked by some very expensive homes, and they don't want there view spoiled do they?:(

The point mentioned earlier about challenging it is valid is it discrimination.
We are not of ethnic origins but as mentioned we pay road tax. Does anyone know why the council is valid in the decision

I don’t know, but I assume that across the seafront locations of Tendring Council there have been complaints to Members (and possibly Officers) of misuse by Caravanners/Motorhomers.
The resulting exclusion of certain classes of vehicle has been carried out presumably with legal advice, although it is debatable a) whether it has actually solved the problem and b) simply moved it elsewhere in the locality.
Personally, I shall continue to go to Frinton but will use alternative, legal parking locations in the area near the seafront ie. side streets

We often go there. I took my grandkids for a ride on my 200 cc scooter down to Old Felixstowe and they loved it. Guess what, on the Monday I get a call from Felixstowe police saying someone had complained about yobbish behaviour and filmed me from one of those big houses. Even the police were embarrassed and said in no way it was yobbish.
I asked for the name of the perverted stalker swine who filmed me but they were not allowed to give it.

We did park a van in the diagonal bay this summer and a man came over and said if your van goes over on the grass and sticks out to far in the road you may get a ticket. We did move and whilst we were moving he went into the house we were spoilt the view of.?

London can decide what time hgv can enter London and not let them park so I would think stopping a motorhome parking is just the same.
