Just been giving the van a good clean and noticed covers behind the fridge vents. Do you take them off when the weather is warm. I noticed on our last outing, that the fridge wasnt very cold. Thanks

hi are you talking about winter covers ,,?that you can change with the open vent ones that you keep on all the time ,if that makes😊 sense

Our vent covers are still on. We used the MH this week. The daytime temp was 14°c and at night it was dropping to zero and just below.

Do I have to wait for the night-time temps to be around 8°c before removing them?

Mine have been in a drawer for 2 years. Never used them. Didn't know what they were for the first year. Fridge/freezer seems to work fine all year round (I use the van at least once a month all year round).

Not sure I'm I'm asking for trouble or not ...

Yes they are the winter covers it's the way they do it on the newer fridges, makes fitting fans a pain.
Always use them when not using the van, stops a lot of crud getting in

It will work fine but might be more efficient with the covers on during low temps

A 3-way fridge needs some temperature difference across the “works” at the back to drive the fluid through its tubing. If the weather is cold, it can lose that temperature difference and won’t operate well.
If all is going well (and bear in mind that if the fridge is already cold when you go to sleep, its contents won’t need much cooling overnight) then there’s no real problem in leaving the covers off. If you do find there’s a problem, the covers are there to help.
I’ll admit to having used my motorhomes throughout the year (in the UK), down to the occasional -4C … and never yet used the covers. The fridges worked just fine (perhaps I was lucky in having the grilles in the lee of the van - no cold wind entering).
