Hi folks - query about motorhome fridge. We don’t have elec hook up tonight so are trying to run the fridge on gas for the first time. The gas is on, and cooker is fine, but fridge is still flashing and beeping to say it’s not connected to the gas.

Any advice?

Somewhere you will have a gas manifold which will have valves to turn gas on and off for each appliance. Find that and check it’s on.

How old is the fridge.

Have you checked the fridge fuses ?can you hear the pizo ignition clicking on.? Just make sure the fridge gas line is open.

Fridge is in a new 2022 Chausson motorhome, not used it on gas before (has worked fine on electric). It’s a dometic fridge-freezer. 3 way option - elec, gas, or 12v when driving. It’s usually on auto and self selects the power source. It’s currently flashing a little light flashing for the gas symbol and a warning symbol.

Just on the basis that you havent had it running on gas before but gas is apparently working, is there some form of reset button, possibly in the gas cupboard, possibly red, that you have to hold down for a period to set/reset ? (for the fridge working on gas)

If youve never used it may be the pipes are full of air. Because the gas jet is very small it can take a very long time for the gas to reach the burner. Try turning it on and off a few times, giving it at least 30sec to ignite each time.

You havent had your kitchen window open have you ?

Thanks all! Checked the manifold (all OK), tried turning on and off several times. Now working 👍 I think it was a matter of first time use / waiting for gas to come through.

Thanks for the advice!

This is my suggestion as well. We once have to give the fridge a few attempts to light after the gas has been off.
