Hello all.

I wanted to see if anyone can help me figure out an issue I've been having with my dometic fridge freezer. I have two almost full (above half) butane bottles on the van. Has anyone suffered loss of cooling as the bottles empty if the top of full. It's almost as if I'm losing pressure to the heater flame as this reduces down to something similar to a pilot light. I have clean the heater element (no sign of anything too grubby). All the other appliances work like a dream with no issues relating bottle contents/levels. Anyone any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you cleaned the flue tube right down to the jet.
The jet itself may have a partial blockage and needs a blast of compressed air to clear it
DO NOT poke anything into the jet

Where are you and what's the outside temp?? Other appliances ok??? Butane does not like it when it's cold!!
Just a thought!!

Oh and welcome...
We're not far from la Rochelle. Yep I had thought of this and have had the same issues with propane too. It's strange as the fridge works great on 12v and 220v??

Thanks papa John. Yep had the compressor on it and made sure all was nice and clean. I ran it for over 24 hours and had a lovely and cold fridge with a brand new bottle and then as soon as the bottle went below say a third full it deminishes the feed flame

Change the regulator.
The bottle pressure remains constant til it's empty so it points to the regulator being faulty
Yep ok I'll give this a go. The only thing that stopped me from doing this originally is that all the other gas appliances work no matter what level the bottles are at. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks again

While you can't answer you may still be reading so .....
If it's a bulkhead regulator ensure it's fitted higher than the bottle/s.
If it's lower it can become clogged by the oil in the gas.
If it's a bottle top regulator it's fine.

If the new regulator doesn't fix it , give the gas valve body (mounted on the rear of the fridge) a light tap , they can stick causing a restriction to the gas supply to the burner . If you do it while the burner flame is reduced you should see if it improves.
