Never heard of batteries being required for a fridge igniter!

A fuse has probably blown somewhere!

What model and make of fridge is it , the Dometic RM8xx0 only uses 1 x AAA battery for its igniter , if that is what you have , the battery must be inserted the correct way round for it to work.
