French tv

We're in France and I did a Chanel search on my TV, zero chanels found. I'm not sure if there's a problem but it seems strange that it can't find anything. Am I missing something?
We're watching netflix tethered to a phone, so not missing TV but?

Depends on your TV we use the pal transmission system, the French use Secam most newer model TV's built especially for travel can use either but if your using a standard home TV you may have problems.

Also, the french use HD only.
If you TV isn't HD then you won't get programs either.

Viewers must buy a TV set (or set-top box) that supports both MPEG-4 H.264 and DD+ to enjoy HD channels.

Analogue was turned off in Nov 2011.

It's an hd TV so I thought it would be ok

I believe terrestrial TV frequencies differ from ours as well. Wrong frequencies, wrong transmission standard, and I donlt know if still true but the audio used to be broadcast on a different sideband.

Yes your right I was just looking at the later French transmission system.
