French school holidays

Just looking for some advice/information.
We are presently planning an August to September holiday. When the French schools are on summer holiday are the Aires in Brittany and Normandy still generally available.

Open - yes. Able to get on one - maybe. Just depends! Best to check out what other aires are available in the vicinity before you set off, then of course having done that, you'll find a space. Eventually you won't bother planning 'what if' and that time, you'll cause a traffic jam when you can't get on!

Yes and No. Generally, we found last year much busy than previous years probably due to the removal of covid restrictions and more people travelling again.

We tried to arrive as early as possible to catch people leaving or find an empty spot as by 4-6pm most places were full in the allocated spaces then fun watching where people will try to park also.

Also bear in mind the rugby World Cup will be on September to well into October this year. Will be a lot of fans around the areas where the matches are being played.
