French passport control At Chunnel

Unless it's been agreed as part of the Brexit negotiations, when we cease to be members of the EU then when arriving from an EU country, it will be same as arriving from, say Gibraltar ie about 1Lt of Spirits or /and 2 Lts of wine.
I don’t understand why it would change. Surely UK govt decides on imports etc. The french are hardly likely to say come back here it’s our wine your not having it.

gun man still on the lose heightened security
bill

You think HM customs and excise are not going to reimpose customs duties, when we are no longer in the EU will the same rules as from other countries not apply, especially with a 'no deal'?

Oh dear, I'll have to make 10 trips a year instead of 3 to keep the wine stocks up, I refuse to pay UK prices. I don't think I've bought a bottle of wine in the UK (excluding when dining out) in over 25 years.:xgrin:

Its the other way around,
The french won't mind selling it but the UK won't let you bring in more than would be the case if you were flying in from a Non EU country at the moment.

I can remember the days when, even as a EU country, the UK imposed limits on Beer Wine, and Spirits.
I used to organise 'Booze Cruises' for fellow workers and from memory we were limited to 6 cases of 24 x 25cl bottles of beer and not much in the way of wine and spirits.
When we become persona non gatia on the Continent, I'm sure the Chancellor will reset limits. He'd be mad not to.

That's just like it used to be in the days before the Customs Union. I can't remember the exact amount, but I remember going to a wine co-operative in France, and stocking up with about 18 bottles, between the two of us, to bring home .

I really don't care how long passport checks take if it adds to the security of travelling and for all of us. Tbh I think it's rather churlish of some to whinge about others preserving our security when we live in such difficult times.

Used to do that when I was young nowdays apart from visiting our dealer 4 weeks is absolute minimum trip.

New World wines for me every time.
No thank you, because they are shipped long distances they put more sulfites in them makes you feel lousy the next day if you drink a bottle or two of them.

Shipped in Huge Bladders, and bottled over here.

I would rather drink a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, and a Traminer Riesling from the Barossa Valley than any of the pale imitations churned out from Europe, which also have Sulphites in them because they are exported all over the world too. :beerchug:

We have Never ever been to the EU & not had proper Passport checks at any port we have used, perhaps we just look dodgy!

why would it change?
As others have said it will revert to what it was before & what it is for non-eu citizens. 1 litre & 200 cigs. no personal goods over £120

I love watching the sniffer dogs going about their work ,
Never seen a dog ?:xsad:
. Much quicker as the passport checker is presented with the info on his screen.
Never seen one work yet.

It might do when the UK government stops paying pensions to overseas expats. :xrofl:
Who is overseas ?:)

A friend of mine is called "Thomas Hamilton" and gets pulled aside every time he travels because his name flags up. He actually works in the security industry and travels a great deal for his work. He always leaves at least an hour more than anyone else to get through airport security.

I like the way you build up posts then go BANG :xThumb: happy Xmas Gus .

Thats fast, a couple of years ago at Newhaven waited in the queue for 50 min, system was on the blink in the end the girl gave up and waved everyone through.
Happened to me in June. Not only did the ramp jam but the ferry was ahead of schedule and the Border Force and Customs staff hadn't arrived. Knowing that rather Mickey Mouse ferry operation well (but I like it) I wouldn't have been surprised if they had apologised for the delay due to the ship's carrier pigeon having been blown off course.

six o clock in the morning and checking passports from every car, took 15 mins to get through ended up on a later train,
Brexit or macron making them do the job properly?!
Did you need to go through the Xray as well?? we did on the last trip back. This time just looked, and given back the passports.

I find them reasonably o.k. to drink but I am careful not to splash any on my skin.

I bring my drugs through in a package up my dogs bottom so that no-one takes any notice of interest from the sniffer dogs.
When I gave that a like I did mean the post not the small of your dogs bum!!!!!

No problem when you have 500kg of spare payload even with the tanks full. That's about 425 bottles.:xrofl:

I flew back from Marselle last month and had to go through the manual passport check with my e passport. The Union Jack has been removed from the e passport isle.

Passport checks:

Check person looks like the person in the passport ( several features checked )
Check the passport is authentic and not a fake.
If authentic, check it has not been tampered with.
Check it’s not expired.
A few other things too, but I’d have to kill you if I told you.
