Hi Uys,
I have Freesat on my home TV which receives signal via aerial on roof, point is, if we are watching an HD channel and it start raining then any HD channels start pixelating and often the signal goes off completely but the non HD channels are fine, does anyone have any ideas as o what could be causing this and how do I fix it?
cheers

Weak signal I'd think, I have the same so have a Virgin box through cable for times when the weather interferes with the freeview signal transmission

Might need to clarify please.

Freesat = dish
Freeview = aerial..
You could be right I had forgotten I had a dish on the side of the house, maybe time to replace with new dish as it’s been up for at least 15 years 👍🏻👍🏻

Feels to me like satellite TV is disappearing. Sky are going totally internet based. I'm not sure I'd bother replacing a dish.

I cant answer why the HD go off before SD but with a dish that age you do need to consider checking the re-alignment and maybe a new(er) LNB with possibly a lower noise figure.
Unless there is a specific reason why you need Freesat via a dish (location etc) then why not just stick with Freeview via a normal TV aerial. There are a few channel differences but very few..

Another thing comes to mind if this is happening in rain and the dish that old, check the amalgamating sealing tape on the LNB F type in case water / moisture is getting in.

We have always liked freesat instead of freeview because of the guide listing and, strangely enough, I like to watch NHK world (English speaking Japanese channel) for its fantastic wildlife programmes and you cannot get this on Freeview.

I will have a look at the dish tomorrow and see if it needs a spot of repair. Thanks

I have a slightly different problem but it might be useful for others to know the solution. On freeview BBC1 and channel 5 picture keeps freezing and I have to flip up a channel and back to unfreeze it. I found out on the web that this can be caused by our mobile phones. Sure enough, if we turn our phones off the problem goes away.

It seems the fix is a 4G filter that connects between the aerial and TV. Now ordered and hopefully arriving soon.

Maybe unrelated but from our satellite reception woes, in 15 years a lot can change in the line of site for the dish. Like trees! 🙁
Our Sky dish had to be relocated in the end due to our neighbour’s tree(s) growing.

Me too… I watch freesat through my humax recorder, pause rewind stop and record live TV all free, combined with my fire stick all is good..😎

Any freezing if picture is the result of miss alignment of the dish or ariel and realignment is needed.

This may be from a dish point of view a new LNB even maybe the feeds/cable itself need changing, they perish and go hard after a few years.

Regards.
