Hi all,
This is our first time taking our Motorhome abroad. We are travelling from Calais down to Portugal through Spain. Have my Tags for all three countries and also the French air pollution sticker which I hope will be with me before we go. My question is do you have to register your motorhome at the Portuguese border, I am sure I have read this somewhere. Many thanks Peter

If you have a tag for Portugal there is no need to register at the border. All that does is correlates your number plate with a card to pay your tolls.

If by "tag" you mean the right sort of electronic toll tag, then you don't need to. (But if so, how did you end up with separate tags? I have one which does all 3.)

If not, then you do need to register on the way in. Quite simple to do.

Thank you, have tag for France and a Tag for Spain/Portugal.

Good. So there are two kinds of tolls in Portugal - the kind where you drive at motorway speed under a gantry and ANPR identifies you. If your hearing is good enough (mine isn't; my wife's is) then your tag makes an audible beep when you go under it.

The other kind is the kind where drivers without tags take a ticket and pay on exit. This kind has a "Via Verde" lane (big green V) which you must use with your tag. It registers your progress and bills you automatically.
