Hi everyone..we are looking to go into France then down to Portugal ( never been in a moho ) next year from april 30th to June 18th..
We are going newhaven to dieppe ( £130 cheaper than tunnel )...plus saving on fuel etc.as we want to go down the west side...can anyone recommend any good stays..,aires or sites..( we have an acsi card and a dog )...I've looked online but Portugal doesn't seem to be as moho friendly as France and spain..so I'm not too sure..I might stay in Spain if people say Portugal not great...a bit of help needed please....

taken a moho to Portugal (just a tent).. but Search for Sites shows a lot of places.

Camping car as well.Loads of sites and off grid. Busier anywhere along the extensive coastline though.
Mike.

Here's the route we did couple of years ago.

That's a good time to go, we'll be going down to Spain around then 🤩.

The portuguese are friendly and the sites and aires are cheap but Diesel is expensive and using the toll roads is a right rigmarole with different systems for different roads. We found the non toll roads too poor to make any progress on.
I doubt you will need to book anything at that time of year, just go 👍

Thank you..by expensive do you mean more than UK....

Park4night and Search4sites have plenty of choices for all of Portugal as does ACSI.
There is also Portugal EasyCamp which has a range of vineyards, farms, honey producers etc … but there is usually an assumption that you’ll buy a product and they don’t always have much in the way of facilities. It really depends what you’re looking for, we are all different and have different preferences.
There’s also more than a rumour that most of the tolls are being scrapped on 1st January so maybe don’t get too worried about that being an issue.

Thank you...do you know if Portugal has dog friendly beaches...we would like to be on the coast if possible...

Just noticed your post regarding dogs on beaches, we’ve noticed a few signs saying no dogs at certain times of year on some beaches, mainly July August and seen loads of dogs on the beaches we visited

I find beaches with dogs a bit hit and miss some have restrictions some don’t a bit like uk , but as bad, also depending on season,
We have done France /portugal /spain during Jan to march .
We have a rough route but to be honest weather takes priority .
We had no problems finding places to stay for free or few euros, but definitely harder around southern east coast of Spain , but still plenty of places as said no need to book just drive and see what’s around the corner

Thank you...

We also hope to do a tour of dumfries and galloway when the weather's ok..I've been threatening to do it for a while...

Far sunnier than Spain and Portugal 😂😂, D&G is lovely and very motorhome friendly. Feel free to ask any questions when you finally decide to do it.

You will need to be careful with the dog on beaches, not sure where your last 18 days will be less travel but from June till September dogs are not allowed on beaches, officially. The maritime police can issue fines, Algarve they like a fine or two. Some beaches are open as you go further down the west to Sagres and then up North from there. Check the signs, its not always clear or ask the locals with dogs, you will find people very friendly. Plenty of places to stay all over Portugal, you are going out of seaon for MH's so wouldn't worry about finding a spot.

This is a good place to find off the beat places, farms, wine spots etc.
