Just noticed that the number of members is into the many thousands. I wonder if, when memberships lapse or people leave, their earlier (than mine) possibly valuable number😁 can be reallocated- as with cherished vehicle number plates. I quite fancy “Conal, number 1! or even number 666😱.

Maybe Jim could auction them off, like The DVLA does.:giggle:
Bet that's got him thinking, How much for 007, I wonder?
LES
Yeah, then he could sell life memberships for your new number. Win win! (y)

The last person to join us was Funster 94485. That's how many people have registered since July 2007. We delete people who have not posted or not visited in 13 months, but we can't reallocate the numbers. Sorry

I think a lot of people log in and set up an ID but never actually join.
They just lurk in the background.

It would great to see some stats.
How many 'active' lurkers
How many active posters (at least a few posts per year)
How many ex members that have not logged on in years.
How many people set up an ID, never joined and not been back in years

I think a clear out once a decade would get the numbers down to sensible figures, maybe 007 could be available (for a price ...)

If you saw how the database behind forums work you'd know how challenging it would be to mess about with the unique numbers allocated to each user ID, it is replicated in so many places behind the scenes. It's probably messy enough just when members try to change their usernames.

In fact I suspect the database that drives MHF is rather large and needs a fair few hamsters to keep the wheels in play.

Oh and 007 wouldn't work as a member number, or at least that would need even more reprogramming to display as 007. If you look at Jim's Funster number any preceding "0"s are not shown. I hate to be boring ;)

That'll be £100 please. Ta

Jim, how many funsters are 'live'? Only asking because it would beef up the argument that MHF is a powerful lobby when we are talking to Councils, MPs, Insurance companies etc.
