We have a foreign registered Euro 6 compliant motorhome.

If we wanted to enter an LEZ where Euro 6 is permitted, how would the cameras/authorities know that we are compliant?

Good question!
I have friends from France who are visiting the UK this year in a Euro 6 PVC and have asked questions about the UK version of their Crit Air, which I have told them are LEZ.
However, I cannot answer how a LEZ is implemented for a non UK vehicle...... So, I await the funsters information that will come in reply.

When your vehicle was imported, did it not go through the certificate of conformity stuff?

ie the system already knows the emissions class.

(I know ours did)

My understanding is you need to register with tfl before entering the zone, if your motorhome is compliant then all should be good, if it's not or you fail to register then you could be fined if they can trace you. Personally if my motorhome was compliant I would register it as I don’t believe registration costs anything.

It's not London that I'm thinking of driving into.
I assume all other LEZ cities will have their own check-in websites?

What has always struck me as weird.
There are only about a dozen vehicle exit points from mainland Britain.
Every port must have an ANPR camera.

It would be very simple to set up a payment system, so that as soon as they arrive at the port they are handed a bill to be paid before loading for any tolls, speeding and parking tickets they may incurred, with the port taking a 10% surcharge on top.

To make it even easier the introduction of a Vignette system like Slovenia where you register your card number on entry, as any fines/tolls can be clocked up 'live'.

Given the small number of vehicle entry/exit points the cost of setting it up would be minimal,
the cost to the UK tax payer would be zero
and it would make millions at say £5 for a car per day and £25 for a HGV (Plus tolls)
(1.5m foreign plated Vehicles enter the UK PA)

As said in London you have to register wth TFL & supply Your registration document etc. The registration is done by EPC plc
then you could be fined if they can trace you.
As above, EPC plc is a registrtion company for TFL , supplies vignettes etc, for plenty of eu countries,is the main debt collector for Uk parking fines, Is an european wide company & is not averse to using all & any methods, legal & illegal to extort money using information from wherever & whatever country in any other country & will use cross border directive to attempt to fleece any that do not know what is covered by the legislation. GDpr & data protection are words I doubt they know

The reason they cannot is they wish to fine the person who was actually driving ,unlike sensible countries who fine whoever owns it.Additionally I'm resident when I am there?& this is why we have number plate flippers,

For foreign plated vehicles, whichever card was used to buy the Vignette on entry is the card that is charged for daily 'road tax' (Vignette) and also any tolls/fines.

It would make zero difference (except in criminal cases) who's card it was.
For HGV's etc it would be a company card, for hire cars, also possibly a company card.

For private cars it can be my 100 year old Grandmother or my 10 year old child, both back home.
It's only to collect the money.

Where a real criminal offence has been committed (and I don't mean 10mph over the speed limit) then that is of course a completely different issue, as it's not just a case of money/fine.
These vehicles should be stopped at the exit port and let the local Police sort it out.

That is what a credit card is for .so you claim it back.

That is what I am saying ,why am I expected to be paying for some scam when I am a resident?Admittedly driving a foreign vehicle? ( that I have 6 months to re register)

Not sure if I am understanding the above correctly.

Are you saying that all foreign registered vehicles arriving into the UK should pay a daily charge whilst in the country?
A sort of (very heavy) tourist tax?

(In my case, this would cost me an absolute fortune as I plan to spend the summers in the UK in our mh which we use as our base to visit family and friends now that we have moved abroad.)

And if every other country did the same I'd be bankrupt by the time I got to Italy

As to your initial question you will have to contact each Lez provider to ascertain what is required for registration. The UK ,as usual, fails to operate a one size scheme as in most other european countries.
