Foot injury

I’m no surgeon or Dr but thought I had heard they can be so just looked up on the NHS website seems they can be

Whilst that is for the hand there are procedures for other tendons including in the foot
I think what was ,meant was the GP cannot fix what the problem is . yes we mostly know a tendon can be fixed by an op.

My mum has just has an ankle fusion after breaking her ankle badly .She did it before Christmas and after surgery and a steel rod through her foot is now allowed finnally to choose not to wear the boot . shes 93. Did you have any other problems
Yes. Was told pre op (2012) I would be out of pain but walking with a funny gait. I was five years on crutches and have never been out of pain completely, and at present have been back on crutches outdoors as it's too painful to walk far. The only solution is to fuse the next joint down, but another 16 weeks in plaster and boot is not an option as I am sole carer for a dementia patient. So I will continue to get by.

I know two others who had similar and have no problems at all.

Going back to the physio issue, A year or so back was referred by the GO to see if they could ease the pain. Went through everything about the ankle. Please stand on one foot. Did that no problem on the left. Now change feet. I can't without holding on to something. Why not? Ahem... The ankle is fused. So what?. Erm. It doesn't move so cannot adjust to keep me upright. Really!

OK. You need to move the ankle in a circular motion. I can't. Why?

Sorry carolyn.

Osteopaths are recognised by the medical profession but Chiropracters are not.

My experience of Physios is obvious going to be very different to yours and much wider. I would always see a Physio but I would also know where to find a good one for what I need and I’d also do all the exercises they told me to do. This is often where things go wrong. People are lazy and want to be fixed by someone else. I am sure this didn’t apply in your case but I still hear it all the time.

I spend my mornings at the gym. Exercise class and then a coffee. People moan that all the Physio did was examine them and give them a load of exercises to do! They would rather go to a chiropractor every few months who will steal their money and manipulate their back dangerously. It’s human nature. Quick fix.

Damn , I’ve got on my soap box about chiropracters. I’d managed to resist for over an hour :giggle:
As a nearly 80yr old, the last Physio I saw, just before Christmas when I fell hard on my front path and landed with all my weight on my left thigh across the inch raised path edging, just looked, asked me to do a few positions and then prescribed over the counter pain killers! 🤬

I asked for how long, he replied, anything up to 6 weeks! 🤬🤬

Hi thanks for the info sorry that it’s been continually problematic
I sent a like by mistake I ment to put informative

Hi Carolyn. Your comment Chiropractor, they’re quacks intrigues me. Whenever I’ve had feet problems I see a Podiatrist/Chiropractor who has fixed me up in a heartbeat when doctors couldn’t. Just take painkillers until it goes away they said.
Quack he is definitely not.
Phil
Wouldn't that be a chiropodist who sorts out your foot problems rather than a chiropractor?

A podiatrist or chiropodist look after lower limbs and feet. As an aside, they also trim toe nails, but that's a tiny part of what they do.

That’s really poor, they should be directing you to buy your own OTC medication and not prescribing it. I hope you complained.

Its a bugger this getting Old Bit ;)
Better than the alternative. One of Nick’s golf buddies who is a lot older with lots of serious health issues always says he’s just grateful when he opens his eyes to be the right side of the grass still!

carolyn I have experienced the best and worse of chiropractic. The first one was very good and referred me straight back to my GP with a letter of her observations. The second was a charlatan.

So hopefully yours is a burst blood vessel and not damaged plantar, mine went pop last year but no burst blood vessels,……
