Out walking the dog last week when a very strange thing happened to my foot,
Something went twang or bang in my foot to the point I could not put it down or walk on it,
I have looked on the internet and came up with

Plantar Fasciitis

But it has now turned black underneath has anyone else experienced this.

I had Plantar Fasciitis after an ankle fusion and it's incredibly painful. However, it never went black. That's either severe bruising or a burst blood vessel I suspect. It took private shockwave therapy to fix mine as it was not then available on the NHS. I suggest get to see a GP, and it's likely to need a scan. carolyn may be more help than I can be, but you have my sympathy.

I didn’t really want to bother the doctor with a bruise on my foot, I have done a few stretching exercises on the sole of my foot and taken some Naproxen to reduce the swelling also ice packs, I’ll have another look in the morning 👍

I too had plantar fasciitis, and painful as it was it never turned black or blue. A podiatrist/chiropodist would be better than a doctor. Hope it’s fixed soon.

Same here

Have to admit that orthopaedics was never one of my favourite things, especially lower limbs but the thing that crossed my mind was whether or not Steve might have a partial rupture of his Achilles tendon. Obviously with his athletic figure it’s a possibility:)

A full tear people describe a being kicked in the back of the leg but it’s the twang that makes me a bit suspicious plus the bruising. I hope I’m wrong but you’d not want it to turn into a full tear.

Definitely see a doctor or a physio. Don’t see a chiropractor, they’re quacks.

I snapped a tendon in my ankle. Very painful swelled and turned black like . I would guess it’s a tendon. Docs can’t do anything for a tendon .

I have never seen a chiropractor but I do see a osteopath who are also described as quacks by some. My experience of physiotherapists has been terrible and they have always made matters worse for me and on one occasion, the orthopaedic consultant confirmed that it had caused more physical damage.

Just my experience, but having had three bad experiences of physio's, I will now not go near one. The c£50 to see the osteopath is worth every penny.

My daughter tore her plantar fascia running playing cricket. It definitely bruised but yours is very dark. It took quite a while to heal so definitely get some medical advice on it.

Oh dear. “Chiropractor quacks.”
Having heard SO many sad stories from my osteopath partner about his patients during his 40 years of practice of incompetent GPs it rather feels like kettle and black

But I know most GPs are good and caring
Just a few prejudiced against a whole profession

Osteopaths are recognised by the medical profession but Chiropracters are not.

My experience of Physios is obvious going to be very different to yours and much wider. I would always see a Physio but I would also know where to find a good one for what I need and I’d also do all the exercises they told me to do. This is often where things go wrong. People are lazy and want to be fixed by someone else. I am sure this didn’t apply in your case but I still hear it all the time.

I spend my mornings at the gym. Exercise class and then a coffee. People moan that all the Physio did was examine them and give them a load of exercises to do! They would rather go to a chiropractor every few months who will steal their money and manipulate their back dangerously. It’s human nature. Quick fix.

Damn , I’ve got on my soap box about chiropracters. I’d managed to resist for over an hour :giggle:

I have never criticized Osteopaths. They are properly trained and regulated. They are not quacks and the NHS does not think they are.

Hi Carolyn. Your comment Chiropractor, they’re quacks intrigues me. Whenever I’ve had feet problems I see a Podiatrist/Chiropractor who has fixed me up in a heartbeat when doctors couldn’t. Just take painkillers until it goes away they said.
Quack he is definitely not.

I’m no surgeon or Dr but thought I had heard they can be so just looked up on the NHS website seems they can be

Whilst that is for the hand there are procedures for other tendons including in the foot

Never seen so much whinging in all my life.

Nothing wrong with it, You've simply been at Denise's make up handbag to get out of running the London Marathon with me again..

Every year you try something....

I'll book you in for next year instead.

Joking aside, Highly unlikely to be Plantar Fasciitis, although painful, its a gradual collapse so doesn't leave bruising like this.
More likely a tendon has gone bang or snapped...
You need the RICE philosophy for a few days with a bit of Ibuprofen-
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevate

Should see you running (a bath) in no time.

Personally, as an athlete, I never rush to physio until I've tried all the very basic stuff. Our bodies have a very funny way of breaking and then recovering.

I suffered plantar fasciatus for 35+ years. Never that colour. Hot hemp cream about 3 years ago sorted it and now only use it once a month or so.
Something above the ankle has gone or very nearly gone.
Achilles would be a favourite with no weight bearing.
I wouldn't be bothering with gp and go straight to a and e. Immediately, if not sooner
