Can anybody help me with a problem i am having with my new fon router.
I can log on no problem at home but i cant use fon hot spots.
I was told I could use the ethernet connection on my non B.T. router but when
I try a hot spot i am listed as an alien .
Any ideas ?

Just a thought:
When we went away we used to completely shut down our computer network but discovered that after we had become 'Fonsters' (sorry ), if we did that we were not allowed to access the Fon hot spots. We have to keep our Fonera open all the time so that others can have the use of it. Now we shut down the computer and its hardware but keep the routers active. We find we can use BT Fon in the UK and Fon hotspots abroad - not that we find one within range very often .

Hope this helped.

Have you set up like this?

as already mentioned above you need to set up and allow your router to be used or you will block yourself. good luck.

also if you add BT smart phone on your mobile and your router at home is switched off i believe that you will not be able to use that facility. ( but , i could be wrong on that point ) but it would explain why i had a problem using bT smart phone on one occasion ,

I just set mine up from the instructions and have used hotspots in France with it.
