Hi does anybody have information positive or negative;) on these batteries? I was hoping to purchase a Reneogy but length at 522mm will be a bit challenging to fit in the space I have. Fogstar are offering a 230/300Ah with overall
  • Dimensions L(380mm) x W (190mm) x H (245mm)
Can they squeeze all that power into such a small casing?

I've been running a Fogstar 280Ah for nearly a year. It's squeezed under the driver's seat. I've not had any issues with it. The app works well. It's been reliable. I'm not pushing it particularly hard though.

Just about the only minor negative against it is the onboard electronics aren't that good at tracking small current draws. So when the van has been left for a few weeks over winter with no significant solar, the charge level in the app may be quite a long way out. My external Victron shunt is doing a better job at estimating charge levels. But this is a total non-issue when you're actually using the van because you tend to push higher currents in and out, so miliamp level discharges become insignificant.

Fogstar seem to be popular around these parts lately with decent comments

I have the Fogstar 230ah in my Pilote P696GJ it performs well , ran my compressor fridge for 75 hours with little or no solar input due to cloudy weather and was still at 30%

I’ve had a 280ah on its side under the passenger seat this year, about 120 nights away.

Support what I’ve needed it never a problem and emails to support answered quickly and comprehensively but the onboard BMS /app has limitations and cant be depended on, I ran out of power after a week of touring off grid when the daily charge / discharge confused the BMS which was showing more reserve than I had, when to bed at 26% power and by early morning the BMS shut the battery down. Learned after that to get it charged to 100% every 3 or 4 days for safety sake. I’ve now got, but not yet fitted, a Victron smartshunt so will hopefully avoid that problem in future. Hooked up an invertor to run a kettle/hairdryer/air fryer.

Overall I’d say a good purchase.

I’m happy with my Fogstar battery and app, just once did the app freeze and they told me to delete it and reinstall. Has worked fine since then.

I've had a 230ah for about a year now and I'm very pleased with it, and I'm happy with the app aswell

Had a 280Ah since March time, had a few glitches early doors with a couple of the settings and the dimensions being wrong but all good since. Agree with the others about the BMS, it can forget it's SOC so best fit a good shunt for accurate SOC readings. Only big issue for me is the BMS has no lock to protect it from anyone logging into it and messing with your settings. The fix for me seems to be leaving the iPad connected at all times when away as it keeps the connection, thereby locking other BT devices out, not perfect but a workaround. The BT connection issues are a faff, sometimes having to force quit the app (android) at times but again when you have a shunt on BT like the Victron no need to look at the BMS app. Hit the battery hard with an inverter powering a kettle etc and it has coped just fine. All is good for us!
Broken Link Removed Sells them & also does the shunt, great service from them.

i have , on here more than once

Can you expand.
went from 1v 0% SOC to 13.2v and 70% and 1 cycle to 4 and back again in 12 mins. also discharging was turned off when delivered so meter was reading 5v this took me ages to find. i thought if you turn off then should be off surely? emailed Fogstar never had a reply. this was 2 weeks before a 8 week Europe trip!

I think the Fogstar Drift thread I signposted earlier goes some way to explain that the app seems to work for Apple IOS users however some Android users are experiencing problems but not all🤔😊

I've got a Victron shunt to go with the rest of my Team Blue kit. So I don't actually check the app that often.

So it now seems the batterie are great….👍🏼 as long as you buy an iPhone and a victron shunt…😎
