Other than the obvious 'fly spray' answer. Is there any way of stopping/ getting rid of flies?
Went up to the storage yard yesterday and there were at least ten of them buzzing around !!!
Not in there when we parked up?

We have a fly spray, ultra violet light electric zapper, fly swat, electric tennis bat style fly swat.

I find the best solution is to not let them in in the first place!

oh, just realised you said in storage. How are they getting in? Eggs laid before parked up?

Unless there is food in the van, they usually want to get out if doors and windows are open. They do not seem to like deodorants. We have used flypaper in the past but with only little success.
I do not recommend the electric tennis rackets with the likelyhood of destroying parts of the van and not killing flies.

I suspect that they are cluster flies, they like to get into places out of the cold for the winter and are probably coming out when the van warms up during the day..

They look just like house flies to the eye…

Had cluster flies in my awning casing. All come flying out when opening, quite a surprise. Gave a spray when they'd gone and they didn't come back.

Yes, cluster flies spending a cozy winter in our vans. Loads of them in my area. They like to tuck up with their mates in the door gaps and fly inside when you open the door. Thankfully they carry no health risk - not attracted to shite like most flies. In storage I open the doors very gradually and spray in the gap as I go - stops them getting in. The little blighters can squeeze in some very tight places e.g. I’ve had them in roof lining and courtesy lights. Sail boats with furled sails can have major infestations during the winter here, I’m sure awnings could be the same.

Yes I’ll second that cluster flies just want warmth they are interested in rotting food, dead animals etc

You need to try and park the van in the shade in late summer/autumn, which is when they start looking for somewhere warm for the winter.

We bought one of these. It was so effective, we bought another two for the house.
It has 3 dimming settings on normal light, and a independent zapping light. We use it especially at night and there are always bugs on it every morning

We had one of those. I've no idea where it is, probably in the van that got stolen. But it wouldn't have coped with the stink bugs we had last year. We wouldn't recommend too much use of mossy sprays in the van,🤢.
