Looking to visit the NT site at Flatford next month as we’ll be in the area. Does anybody know what the access roads and car parking at Flatford is like for a motorhome? Also, any suggestions for nearby overnight camping?

Long time since I've been, but it used to be local when I was growing up. Big car park, looks like they get coaches into it, so Motorhomes must be possible, looks like it is one way too - see https://goo.gl/maps/geXfEnEgeuPDX6BB9

You used to be able to hire rowing boats down there which was nice to row up-river, or walk down-river to Cattawade.

cheers,

Robin

Actually, maybe the rowing boats were from Dedham...

1970 ish there were rowing boats at Flatford, I remember being in one that capsized, we were using our “free periods” wisely.

Looks like they still are at Flatford, but not at this time of year :(

The entry and exit roads are one way. Unless you are really brave, even if disabled, do not take the road on the left to disabled parking. There are about 5 small places in a very small car park down a narrow single track. Don't think you could turn anything bigger than 6m round even of you can park.

The car park at the top is fine, with a walk down through the trees.

There are often electric pleasure boat rides just over the bridge operated by a charity. Row boats available in the summer.

The small RSPB garden is really worth a visit.

Never stayed local as it's about 30 mins from home.

Both when I was last there

No help to you, but there used to be a good CL a short walk away. Unfortunatly that's closed now :(

The parking rows are designed for cars, so a bit tight if you are over 6M. Take some secateurs in case you need to trim. The Lion Brasserie at East Bergholt might let you stay the night if you eat there. Worth an ask.
