Can anyone tell me if my 746 engine battery will be charged from the solar as I’ve just found the battery flat (11.5v).Leisure battery is fine .
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks
Mike

Don’t know about your solar controller but not all of them charge the engine battery. We had a problem with our 2012 Bailey which was sorted by fitting a Battery Master. It trickles a small charge from the leisure battery to the vehicle battery when there is approximately a .8 voltage difference. A diode in the Battery Master only allows the current to flow from the leisure to vehicle battery so there is no chance of draining the vehicle battery. So so long as your leisure is being topped up by your solar panel(s) a Battery Master will take care of your vehicle battery.

How old is the battery ? What size panel, and model of controller is being used? Is it possible to get some jump leads from your hab battery to the cab battery? Are you currently in the van, or is it in storage ? We carry one of those lithium jump packs, also useful as a battery pack for phones ect.

The van is in storage so no immediate panic thankfully. The van was registered in 2020 so I was hoping someone would know if this model normally charges from the solar, if it doesn’t then I’ll get an auto electrician to fit a vanbitz battery master. Unless someone knows anyone in Carlisle who could do it for me .

You can tell if you get a little multimeter set to DC volts.

Put a multimeter in sunshine on each battery. Reading over 13 volts tells you it is being charged by solar.

Our Pegaso 590 was not set up to charge both the leisure and cab batterys by solar directly from the factory, I fitted CRB CSB 2 so both batteries were charged by the solar panel.
All the needed connections were in the Nordelectronica shunt next to the hab battery.
