Chausson 727 welcome
Hi all my MH had a flat battery yesterday when I moved it, it had been sat there for two weeks and previously before that I had to jump start it again. I was thinking of putting a trickle feed on the battery is this a route to go down??

You don’t say much about your setup but I think I’d start with a new battery.

Well to be honest we’re new to the MH world so we are still finding our feet etc. I haven’t got anything set up as regards to the battery. I’m going to get or was thinking of putting a solar panel on the leisure battery whilst it’s parked up as there are no means to electric. ??

You won't get much if any solar in the winter

Can you better describe your actual set up - presumably it charges on EHU and also when driving for both batteries?

Excllellent idea. For me that’s all that’s necessary using a 150w solar. I suggested changing the battery as 2 weeks isn’t very long for it to go flat - it’s either knackered or you’ve got something going on that’s causing a big drain.

I’ve got it on Ehu to charge it now as it is outside the house but I think it might require a new battery but as being new to the game I wondered what everybody else does in the winter.

Try a trickle charger at first
The poster has no electricity where parked so a charger isn’t an option. At least not where it’s parked (apparently). So solar sounds a good option.

It sounds like the van is in storage and no EHU available. If it’s outside, then you should really look at having solar on the roof and then you can have it maintain both the engine and leisure batteries. You may well buy a new battery, but it’ll only last so long before it’s low on power again.

Only other option is to remove it and take it home to keep charged, but then you’ll need to know what systems the battery is maintaining and if there are any impacts on not having it fitted. Could also look to have a spare engine battery and swop them around on each visit, but solar is the best way to go, as it’ll keep you topped up on all your future trips.

Ahhhh it’s outside your house, so can’t you get a power socket installed near to it, or a good extension lead and add the trickle charger.

That’s some very good ideas I like them I’ll definitely look into those options

Once a battery is completely flat it usually results in permanent damage. Even batteries that appear to have survived with holding voltage can have a lower residual capacity.
Looks like you will need a new battery and if there is no way to trickle charge when in storage, it needs a decent run out every couple of weeks or disconnect the battery to prevent drain from the alarm ect.
Also worth noting that Fiat and Peugeot air bag ecu‘s are notorious for having problems if the battery voltage is erratic including jump starting spikes.

That’s a very fare point to be honest. Can anybody recommend a good replacement battery in that case please.
You Guys are very helpful and it’s muchly appreciated 👍😊
