After months of reapplying silicone to the cable cover on the roof and still getting leaks I decided to strip the whole thing off , clean and re fix .
I think I found the issue - the dealers when they fitted the cover didn’t independently seal down the “top hat” a circular fitting that goes around the hole drilled for the cables to provide a 3-4 mm lip which is above any water ingress . Instead the dealer slathered the “top hat” with silicone which then stuck to the cover - lifting it away from the roof .
Page 10 on this link shows how it should be fitted
Anyway it took 2 hours to peel away the rock hard silicone , clean the roof with a plastic sourer , white spirit and some acetone cleaner , then reseat everything making sure the the top hat was fitted correctly .
Think I’ve done it , we will see .
