Autosleeper Broadway
Hi all, I am somewhat of a massive noob when it comes this sort of thing. I have ordered a Garmin BC40 camera and seeking advice on how to best fit it. I don't want it mounted on the number plate but further up nearer the roof (I bought the camper mount).
Should I screw it in place and if so what's the best practice doing this and what sort of screws should I use? Or is using some kind of waterproof adhesive a better idea? I'd like the option of taking it off and transferring it to a different van if I ever get one in the future.
If it's relevant, my van is a 2014 Autosleeper Broadway.

Many thanks!

I had to make my own bracket to attach the Garmin camera mounting bracket to as the rear of our moho isn't a flat surface. I screwed (with the screws Garmin provided in the mounting kit) and glued (I use Sticks Like Sh*t adhesive) it to the top of the roof. I added tiny rubber o-rings to the screws first so that they compress down onto the bracket to keep moisture out. Then ran a bead of white silicone all around the outside edge of the mounting bracket, just to make sure.

Is there a reason that you don’t want it mounted on the number plate……?

It’s battery-operated, Figaro ……
I have (had!) one, and it worked really well - with the correct Garmin SatNav, of course!

Ah ok, so they need removing for recharging from time to time ?
How do they switch on / off manually

Tell you what, I'll go do research, lol

I used lithium batteries in mine - they last about 18months with regular use - but mainly when reversing. They are activated by the satnav when required - the screen changes from map view to rear-view…..

Can the BC40 camera be selected on when actually driving forward or is it for reverse only ? Thanks

It can be used as a rear view mirror whilst driving if it is paired with a compatible Garmin sat nav. It does not select with reverse gear as it is wireless operation.

You can mount it on the reg plate with the plate fitting. And like any other rear view camera with the other fitting. They are very good and work at any time you want to see for a minute cot so last well on rechargeable batteries. Easy to fit use a good quality glue then you don’t drill into the van. 👍🌟

Thanks. I thought I'd read that the GPS in the sat nav sensed when the vehicle moves forward it turns the camera off and the opposite when it sensed the vehicle reversing.

Mine would switch to reverse view when the satnav powered up (engine turn-on) - but you select the satnav display/rear-view camera display from a soft button on the satnav screen…..

Or you can use voice command - on mine I just have to say "video on" and it switches from route mapping to rear view.

That’s a lot of bullocks mate. You can view anytime. By press of icon or shout at it. 👍🥃🤪

Do people who use these reversing cameras get a good connection between the sat nav and camera ?
I thought they used Bluetooth but after looking on the Garmin website it seems they use wifi.

I've got two on my Broadway it's easy to switch between either camera. The battery on the first one I bought has lasted over 3 years so far.
The bottom one I just pk'd the bracket as the back is open to the atmosphere and the top one I just put mastic around the screws

Check out E-Bay number 394492905867 for a cheap, but genuine BC40 camera. Seller has good feedback too.
