Hey peeps I have bought a 3 meter famila f45 awning to fitt to my roof rack. There currently isn't a bracket to fit on to it so I'm having to fabricated one myself.

I have a couple of questions regarding this.

1. has anyone else done this before? If so how was it achieved.

2. Do you have to mount the brackets where they recommend? I can only fit to the roof bars and these aren't in the where famila recommend to put them.

any advise would be greatly appreciated

many thanks

Jay

It's a very simple system really, the awning body just hangs on the shaped bit at the top of the bracket and gets secured by self tapper type screws through the holes in the bottom of the bracket so you can fit them anywhere you want as long as the surface is strong enough to hold the weight.

This was my thought entirely. The only reason for this post is that in the fitting guide it states in measurements terms where to put the mounting brackets.

My initial thoughts were surly they can go anywhere as long as it's supported.

Thank you if in doubt go with you gut!

the recomended points for fixing relate to where the hinges are if your too far away the casing will start to twist it looks like you have longitudal rails on your roof rack why cant you get a fixing in the recomended positions?
fiamma make brackets for most van but they are horrendously expensive https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/37399797...d=link&campid=5338547443&toolid=20001&mkevt=1
google a few to get ideas what you can make to do the job

I have searched high and low for a bracket that could work but couldn't find one for the longitude rail.

You have just given me the answer I have been looking for though.

I shall add extra brackets in the correct place to stop the casement twisting.

Effectively fixed and supported where I have to and an extra bracket at each end near the hinges.

Cheers thank you
