Hi.

My I recently replaced my front speakers in the doors because they sounded terrible. The new pioneer 10cm ones are actually worse and distort at lower volume.

Nevertheless they were working for 2 days and today I realize they are not working at all on CD on radio, nothing. The head unit turns on and even the rear soaked that I didn't change also don't work, so no sound at all.

I checked the regular first box and the one in the back for all the leisure stuff. Everything seems ok.

However I do notice a strange sound each time I turn the envying and the for radio on the is a quick "doof" kind of sound that comes from the area where the front fuse box is.

Any ideas?

The first paragraph makes sense but can you please re read the others and edit them to be more understandable (absolutely no offence?) . My best guess at the minute is that the Audio IC in the head unit is damaged due to a wiring short.

And disconnect the front speakers and tape the wires to stop them touching

I CANNOT FIND OUT HOW TO EDIT, SORRY FOR THAT. PLEASE SEE AMENDED VERSION WITHOUT THE TYPOS HERE :)

Assuming all correctly wired up and no shortage in the wiring. Check this.
Have you reversed the connections? If you have, and if they are twin driver speakers, you could be feeding the woofer (the big one) signal to the tweeter (the wee one) and vice versa.
Given your comment on the distortion levels being worse on the new speakers and they then ceased working you may very well have blown the drivers in them.
Did you check the impedance rating on the new speakers? Is it the same as the old ones?
Try swapping them back out for the old ones and see if they work. If they do the head unit is OK. If they don't it looks like the head unit is suspect.

Could the "doof" sound be coming from the front speakers or tweeter? I've known amplifier chips make funny noises when they're smoked ?

Does your head unit have an auxiliary output and if so is this working ok?

Are the new speakers wired up the wrong way round, that would make them distort because Pioneer are usually good speakers.
