First time owner first silly question.

Just purchased our first motorhome Bessacarr E460, I have got my head around most of the heating and water supplies but the one thing I have no idea what it's for is the small chrome disk next to the water filling point.

12 volt socket for a water pump I think, commonly used by tuggers who can't give up old habits
Not really necessary on a motorhome

You will find a bottle top off a coke bottle fits nicely over the top to stop the water getting into the sockets.

I wouldn't bother with it unless you routinely parkup on a campsite for two weeks where your 300 yards from the water tap.
Most motorhomers move every few days and fill up / empty water on the way in or out of the campsite or aire.
Or use a watering can for emergency top up.
Water carriers and pumps are often used by caravaners as they seldom move but are bulky to store.
I suppose a lot will depend on how you use your motorhome.

I have one that I use quit often when there is no close tap however I fitted to an extension lead so I can use it anywhere around the van and it’s not outside for water to get into.
you can use a bucket or small bowser to collect water easily and pump it into your tank however there will be those that suggest a watering can “you pays your money and makes your choice”

buy a pump just use a watering can or a hosepipe.

We learnt quite quicky that the 10l water carrier we use in the kitchen as we don't drink from the tap equally doubles to fill the tank if needed.

Don't bother.....it probably won't work as the contact area gets heavily corroded.
Just stick a hose in the filler and turn on the tap.
If you need to fill on pitch instead of uprooting and driving to a tap just buy a large watering can.
