Firestick help please.

In January we decided to buy a latest generation Amazon Firestick HD to use with our LG Smart TV at home, we will, in the future, also take it to use in our van. Almost each time using it two things can happen, either the picture freezes but audio continues or secondly it just freezes totally.

Our home 4g wifi internet is not brilliant but we get about 20mbps download. The problem seems worse on YouTube or streaming channel 4.

Is this usual or just my usual bad luck with technology ?

Probably down to you Wi-Fi/internet - the latest Firesticks need good bandwidth/speed to work properly AFAIK…….

edit: perhaps lower the quality of streaming on the Firestick so it’s less demanding of available resources….(fromUHD to HD, say)?

We watch all our tv through the firestick as we have no dish or ariel, we notice on C4 that the audio and lip movement can go off if we’ve watched it for a while. I just stop live tv for a few seconds then restart and all is fine, if we’re watching 5 we’ve noticed around the same time every day it loses connection for around 10 seconds then reconnects, no idea why this happens and it only happens when on home WiFi which is pretty fast. We also take it with us in the van and have no issues using it via our phones, apart from these two small issues we’re very happy with the FS.

Lower the quality of the playback on the stick. This is needs to be done with in the settings of the stick, and sometimes on the app you are using. That will stop it stalling when not getting enough data through.

Walter Presents with the subtitles and you wont notice it !

Do your speed test on the firestick to find out what it is getting. Then go from there.

This may help, if slow speed perhaps tone down the quality?

As I expected, all brilliant advice folks thanks, and I shall try every recommendation. It is definitely at it's worst on Walter Presents via Channel 4 as confirmed by lorger.

4 is the worse for us. Adverts are always perfect though, and telly stalls immediately after. Need to pause it, wait, then press play.
