I thought I'd share my experience of filling a Safefill LPG bottle in Spain. Unusually I failed to adequately research gas filling before we went out to Spain, and it became quite a problem for us. We had no experience of filling an LPG bottle, but this is how we did it. Maybe it will be useful for someone else?

Before heading out to Spain, buy the adaptor set from the Safefill website. I wish I had! If you haven't got the adaptors then there's a chance the filling station might be able to lend you an adaptor. Use the MyLPG (https://www.mylpg.eu/stations/) website to locate a filling station with LPG. If you need to borrow an adaptor then I would recommend that you choose a Repsol garage in a motorhome tourist hot-spot. We used the Repsol garage on the A7 near Estapona and the cashier handed me a box of adaptors. I didn't mention I was trying to fill a gas bottle because some of the garages don't allow it! I think they assume you're filling a British car??

I did have an extension adaptor with me which proved quite useful. I found that the Spanish adaptor didn't want to screw directly onto the Safefill bottle, but it happily screwed into the extension adaptor. Also, I'm not sure whether there would have been enough space to attach the LPG gun if the extension adaptor wasn't there.

Open the tap on the top of the Safefill bottle and attach the adaptors. Place the nozzle over the Spanish adaptor and grip the trigger. The nozzle has some ball bearings in the end and, when you pull the trigger, you'll feel the nozzle grip the adaptor.

Press the '10' button for a 10 litre fill. Press the '5' button for a 5 litre fill. You can keep pressing the buttons to make any amount of fill. I went for 15 litres but I only needed 13.78 before it was full. You don't pay for the extra. Press the €/Lts to confirm the amount you require.

While keeping the nozzle trigger pulled, press the button on the side of the machine. Keep it pressed until the machine starts dispensing LPG. It may take a few seconds to jump into action, but keep the trigger and the button pressed. The digital counter will show the LPG being dispensed and it will stop when the bottle is full, or when it has reached the amount of LPG you asked for.

When you release the trigger there will be a huge gaseous backdraft - be prepared for that!

Replace the nozzle, remove the adaptors, and pay for the gas at the counter.

Our LPG cost €1/litre.

I hope this helps.
