I need some advice I’m fifty in October whilst we will be in Germany getting ready to leave on the 15th October to get our tunnel back to the uk.
I would like a location whilst we are in the motorhome to celebrate, it’s just myself and my husband but it would be nice to have a quality meal or a stunning location. This would be in the north west of Germany.
The full med cruise with family and friends has been put on hold till next October.
All suggestions would be appreciated.
we are probably going to be staying in Aachen on the 14th October.

I am really looking forward to seeing how you celebrate your 50th , I am sure someone knowledgeable about Germany will be along soon.

Maybe suavecarve can help ?

This sounds like a really nice idea. Going out on your 50th to a lovely place for somewhere to eat and making it memorable.
It sort of involves a bit or romance

I am seriously not the person to help out with this ! Our 30th Wedding anniversary was spent on a motorbike in the pouring down rain of Frejus and we got saturated. Really cold as well. Bloody miserable. It was so bad that i felt obliged to take her to a back seat kebab shop for a hot meal. It was the burger special. Now to be fair I have got better in recent years as the kids embarrassed me into taking her out for her first meal in 25 years for our 25th Wedding anniversary. No I am not kidding.
I am completely available for advice on this subject but to be brutally frank, I wouldnt listen to my own advice if you want to make it (nice) memorable. If you want to make it as cheap as possible, then I am your man. Stay in and have a normal meal but finish it off with a cheap camambert from Lidls.

What i will do is put a note on the Germany thread currently running as there will be people on there who do know where to send you. I ll point everyone in the direction of this thread. Some towns closer to the time would probably be helpful

I’d have a look at trip advisor in your destination as if you follow this lot you’ll end up in a greasy spoon cafe where you’ll find me in the corner sampling their delights..😆

If by north west Germany you mean the Dortmund/Hannover area I'm not sure about stunning locations as its mostly as flat as a pancake. I lived in this area while wearing green for a few years when I was half your age so any recommendations will be somewhat out of date. The bars we were ejected from may have changed a tad.

Munster, the one in Westfalia, is a university town with a lot of history and used to have a good nightlife. There was a nice restaurant in a forest near it but this was forty years ago so don't ask for details.

Unless you want to take a risk you might be better staying further south, the Black Forest for example. Or be adventurous and make for the north coast - an area I regret not having explored.

Some background reading for the coast:

50!?!?!? You havin a giraffe?

Youre not even old enough to own a motor home! Get back to work :ROFLMAO: ;) :ROFLMAO:;)
Started young and went self employed at 21 working solid for 20 years without a holiday or much time off.
🤔😂

Hello from another Whitchurch resident. Think I know where you are... can’t be too many Morelos in the area.

Rurberg in the Eiffel National Park is very nice. Not too far south of Aachen and a lovely location (Camper Contact 48031). Watch the overhang on the way in if you go there. (we were OK in a 8.1 metre tag axle). Don’t know about restaurants there but the ice cream was good.

We were there in August this year whilst the weather was excellent.

That is a nice vista.

It’s quite hilly around there, 400 metre walk down into the small village and a dam. Very scenic. There are restaurants around but we didn’t use them.

Thinks us youngsters are bringing the average age down (was 50 a few weeks back), we'll be giving MHF a bad name:ROFLMAO:

Enjoy the day

My guess is that you'll be 51 in October too.

Thank you for the suggestions.
As we are still going to be in the romantic road region we decided to book a restaurant at würzburg for Saturday 10th October
Staying on the parking at Friedensbrüke camper contact 97082.
The restaurant I have booked is called Reisers am stein.
