So I have a flashing glow plug heater light for 10 seconds or so every now and then on a cold start. Research tells me its a possible failed Glow Plug. Also the odd failed start sometimes. Engine runs great when running etc.

A set of 4 from Euro Car Parts is £70. I know removing them is best with the engine hot etc. But they are potentially 11 years old if never replaced before and they are prone to shearing.

Has anyone DIY'd them there self or should I just take to a suitable mechanics? I do most stuff like that myself normally. Just never done glow plugs before. Usually Spark plugs.

You can do a simple check on heater plugs if you disconnect the feed wire and then just compare the resistance of each one with a cheap multi meter, that will help in identifying the culprit ?
My pal specialises in removing seized injector and heater plugs (does them for Mercedes main dealer on Vitos and Sprinters mostly and has some fancy hydraulic pullers). None of the local garages will tackle it themselves, once they've snapped them off !
I would seek out a garage with a known track record of doing them and I would get genuine Bosch ones or OEM.

Thanks for the info. I have a multi meter. Guessing I can find a YouTube link on how to do that.

And I’m gonna hazard a guess that your mate lives no where near me ? Chesterfield

Sorry davidathomas42, he's up at Carlisle, but hopefully you could maybe find someone closer to you ?
This is a simple vid on what to do, although I don't know what access is like on your engine ?

The van upped its game today. It now flashed on start up for 10 seconds and the display now says check glow plugs.

Going to have to get this booked in and sorted ASAP now

Update on this thread

I updated the dealer on the glow plug issue along with the other stuff thats causing me issues. It went in to a truck repair shop on Monday. They finally started work on it today and rang me to say the glow plugs were already spinning in the cylinder head when they tried to remove them.

So its ripping the head off and re-tapping it to take new plugs. Its not a cheap fix but the supplying dealers are picking up the tab with it been a failed item on handover.

Next in the auto gearbox fault. They could not replicate the failure yet so are going to look at that again once the head is sorted.
Then back to the dealer to fit a new board in the Truma to hope that finally fix's it.

wildhorse3143 It's not a great idea to publicise your email address on an open forum, you might be able to edit your post if you wish.
The original poster has not been around lately so may not see your post, but others on here may be able to help,
Best thing would be to start a new thread asking for help

I have a set of genuine Peugeot glow plugs for sale £50 delivered (mainland only) I bought them for our 2007 2.2 puma and never fitted them. Pig to do. Inlet manifold has to come off.
