Fiat Ducato recall

Bishops, Fiat dealer in Guidford
Do you mean the dealer on Slyfield Estate, thought they were Barnes? Or have they rebranded?

I tried booking in at Barnes last week but they put me off as they were awaiting their first "guinea pig", so they knew what they would be doing. Looks like I'll now be at the back of the queue when I get my backside in gear and remember to try and phone again.

I went on to my Fiat account and they listed the company as Bishops.

I have just looked at the website appears to be part of the Barnes group (when you click on the Fiat emblem it takes you to the Fiat page and it is called Bishops Fiat)

When I spoke with them they advised that they had seen 3 so far and all were fine!!!
Regards
Dave

Hi Saint, can you advise which site you checked. We too have a Dethleffs but as we are fulltimers, will not pick up any post for at least another 2 months

Thanks
Hi. Sorry for delay in replying. I think it was Fiat Camper but you should find info on main Fiat site.

Well 2 new knuckles for my van and the 3 vans that were in before me.

Quoted 7 days hopefully for parts from Italy. 🤞

Just seen this so called to check as a 2019 van and happy days all clear.

But there is and outstanding recall I knew nothing about on the brake pipes:oops:
Will make for an interesting trip to Cornwall on the 12th April as not booked in until 29th

Had mine inspected today. No replacement required. A couple of software updates done at the same time. Took an hour.

Interesting that some it seems Ditcha's garage need to replace the parts on most of the vans they see, yet other garages aren't seeing so many faults. I wonder if some are blanket replacing the parts, as even if they have yet to fail they are at risk of having future failure from poor manufacture yet others on visual check say no current damage so nothing to do at moment, which leaves a risk for the future if the bits came from the same dodgy batch?

It does seem exceeding strange. It would be helpful to know what the reason for this anomaly is. Overcareful, under careful or perhaps a batch of dodgy vans delivered to one local converter?

My vans from the Carthago factory so can't see it been a local issue, there's a size they have to check and needs to be within 1mm something to do with misalignment so the garage said glad in a way they are being changed for peace of mind really.

My Carthago is due to be checked next week, it came from the Slovenia factory. Did they tell you not to use it until repaired?

If they use the Fiat Ducato as the base, whether it's a PVC, Coach built, or A class, the chassis all emerged from the same production lines at Seville, before it went on it's travels to the converter. So regardless of the motorhome brand, most of us share the same basic mechanics and will have common problems.

Malibu are made in the same factory in Odranci, Slovenia along with the c-compactline, c-tourer, chic c-line and L42.

I asked the question they said it's okay to drive home but not to use it until returning it for the fix.

Blaydon its my nearest

I used Blaydon the first recall they are a nightmare to deal with rather be doing wagons etc than motorhomes. Sherwood's where great today waited while they checked (20mins) great customer service, When I booked into Blaydon the size I just had to drop it off and they would get onto when they could not even on the same-day.

Sherwoods should be just a close for you they are on the crowther Ind est in Washington.

That's right the guy before me just had a panel Van.

Ditcha - whereabouts do you put the vin number in on the fiat website from your link?
Can’t see anything obvious :(
Thanks

Thanks Ditcha - don’t know what I was doing but I’ve found it now and looks like we are in the clear:party3:

I have checked mine myself and can't see any cracks but don't know what sizes they need to check.

My Knuckle no crack.
That cracked knuckle looks bloody dangerous to even drive home at 20 mph from the garage!!
Easy enough to check yourself by popping your camera phone behind the wheel at the trailing edge and take a photograph. Ours was made 2 months prior to the dodgy batch and looks ok,

Easy enough to check yourself by popping your camera phone behind the trailing edge at the front wheel and take a photograph of the knuckle on both sides. I have treated ours with wax oil from new so make a point of regularly inspecting underneath for corrosion and damage which looks to be worthwhile.
Ours was ok but what was made 2 months before the dodgy batch so will have to keep an eye in future for any problems and inform the garage.

I must admit that’s what I’m worried about. We’ve got to travel from Sherborne to Bournemouth which is the closest but it’s 45 miles away! I think we’d be really popular with everyone including the Police if we drove all that way home at 20mph.
I’m pretty sure Ditcha did a visual inspection of his and thought they looked ok but they weren’t so I don’t think I’d put much faith in an inspection by Nick and I.

Wish ours was sooner but fingers crossed.

There is no need to do 20mph carolyn, if they were cracked they wouldn't let you take it home, they must have a spec to check them to if it's out of this spec this could lead to cracking, the crack on the pic I posted is worse case scenario could have been a white van man bouncing up and down kerbs all day to cause it, anyway fingers crossed that you don't need them 🤞
