MH
Fiat Ducato Mooveo
Have booked our MH in for new alternator & since we’ve had zero luck since we got the van have decided to change the cam belt at the same time. It’s booked into our local garage but anyone have any idea at a ball park cost?

Roughly £700. It seems to depend a bit where you are, it could be a fair amount cheaper, or more!

Just had the cambelt and waterpump replaced on my 2004 Ducatto 2.8 JDI. £98 for the cambelt, £89 for the waterpump, £560 for labour.

Jesus. £1500 for a service. How do garages get away with that?

I've been using a non franchised MoHo specialist for the past couple of years and was happy with them. But, on reading somewhere that the cam belt needs changing every 5 years or 120K kms, became a little unhappy with them as the cam belt was due last year and I was never advised by them that this was the case! Would have thought they'd be interested in the business.
So after shopping around, I've booked our 2017 2.3 multijet 150 at our local Fiat Professional - service GBP 420 +VAT and cam belt 693+VAT. Total 1335 inc VAT (+ MoT) (Will leave it with them for 2 days)
Seems a lot of money at first sight, but there comes a point where my "if you buy it cheap, you buy it twice" mantra would come into effect, and as the cam belt is already a year overdue I'm happy to let a main dealer do it competently albeit for a little more money.
The only "odd" thing is they don't MoT on site, but will take it to a local tester for me so it will come back with an MoT!

Wow thats cheap labour, AFAIK the cam belt is a few hours job (at least 4) and I guess alternator is 1 or 2 at least so only £180 for labour did they send it to China or somwhere and was the parts genuine Fiat?

I have just got 2 quotes for CAM belt etc change for an Iveco main agent £1,075.00 and Travelworld £ 1,330.00. My local chap uses a0 travelling mechanic to do these jobs and he has just gone on long term sick. Anyone who has a reasonable contact closeish to Stoke on Trent give me a shout. At these prices I can afford to travel a bit.

It seems that the cost of parts is the smallest element of cost when replacing a cam belt so it may be best to compare labour rates. A-class motorhomes can be particularly awkward and hence more pricey. Some places are more adept at getting the job done (due to experience) so it might also be worth checking that they understand what they are being expected to do. I'm not sure you could hold them to a quote if the fact that it's not a standard truck was not emphasised.

Good thoughts. Travelworld know what ours is and the Iveco people do as they have done work before on it and it is going in soon to them to have the comformatic gearbox fluid change. They wanted £675.00 in labour and Travelworld did not elaborate but said that anti-freeze would be extra.

Mine was sorted by Ignition Autos in Middlewich. Labour cost is £70 an hour.

Dealer had cam belt done on 1.9 Ducator (52 plate). Cam belt, Water Pump, full service and MOT came to just under £600 according to the invoice he showed me. Its a local garage they always use so possibly mates rates.
