Hi all soda law washed and cleaned it ready for a few days away first in 18 months. Now notice a persistent drip from what I believe is the diesel filter housing . It seems to be coming from quite hi up the housing . Difficult to pinpoint exactly but from at least the height of underside of the black rim just below the green bit . Any ideas please as need to getaway in it ! Paul

As Big1 mentions the best way is to replace the whole thing.
They are about £75 from eBay and come ready to fit with the internal filter included.
They are a well known problem on middle aged Ducato's.

Remove the electrical connector from the bottom and top.
To remove the two fuel pipes push the little collet toward the filter the pipe should just then be pulled out. If it won't come out persist in carefully pushing the collet in. There is a bit of a knack.
Then either slide the filter body up off the bracket or alternatively just unbolt it.

Use a cloth underneath to catch diesel spills.

When fitting the new one the fuel pipes just push straight in.

The filter is self priming. Just crank her over a bit and she will start.

Most of us with this filter keep a complete spare in the vehicle, they can start to leak anytime really.

Cost a lot more from a motor factors or a lot more than that at a dealers.

The filter has been changed, and not done properly. The easiest way of dealing with this is to buy a complete new assembly and swap the entire thing as this is quicker than just changing the filter and also you know it will cure the problem.
They are a simple unplug replug item. Easier if headlight out, but can be done with it in place.

if you struggle to source let me know as I keep a spare.

I suggest ignoring the part of the video on changing the cartridge in the filter, as without the proper tool, they often leak under pressure

Just an afterthought peeps I have it booked in for four new tyres tomorrow. The tyre garage is literally a mile or so away. Do you think it would be ok to drive it there and back? Obviously won’t get the filter and housing changed till Wednesday….Paul

Hi
I would recommend you place a 'nappy' under the filter to catch and drips, never a good idea to let it drip onto the road.

I initially bought a filter element and the fixture and special cap driver.
Changed element torqued cap to 30Nm and it still leaked.
So that's where I found out replacement is the cure.

Pagen , I know it's another £85 or so but it makes sense to carry a spare.

Thank you very much for the help and all advice 👍 really appreciate it and see the sense in carrying spare too. Have to use it as it is to go to tyre garage this afternoon as booked slot . But replacements ordered . Should be here Wednesday 🤞

If it's like the one on the plastic filter of our Iveco Daily which is a bayonet type fixing, you just give it a twist. The new filter comes with a replacement O ring to reseal the electrical connector.
Edited to show a picture of the electrical fitting on our filter body.

the raised protrusion is the water drain tap and you can see the bayonet slots in the housing to hold the electrical connector. Can you get your phone in underneath your filter and take a couple of pics ?
