Hello all! Was not sure whether to post this here or in technical, so appologies if i'ts wrong.
So, bought a van! Autotrail Comanche 2010 on the Fiat cab, and would like to see what the entertainment options are. Currently have a single din radio, which is probably an over simplistic description. It plays radio, cd's, dvd to its very small screen and to the drop down TV. Displays the reversing camera image and distributes signals from the digibox. All works OK, but the reversing camera image is tiny and I would like satnav, but don't realy want things stuck on the windscreen.

Is there a double din radio avalable that will fufill all these requirements? Anyone got one, and how do you get on with it?

I know that I am asking a lot from a radio, but technology moves so fast nowdays that something may be avalable.

Thanks in advance,
Stalk.

If you don't want out-of-date satnav maps, get something with Android Auto or Apple Carplay.

IMO combined units such as the one you want are too much of a compromise: the screen isn't in the best place for a camera, the sat-nav probably won't have free (or any) upgrades, and the radio will be of poor quality and without DAB.

Depends what you want to spend. Blaupunkt do a very nice Android Sat Nav. The Capetown 945 has IGO Primo Software but will also run Co-Pilot and Tom Tom. Map updates are available from various places if you go looking.

Fitting is fun as you have to cut out some bits of the dash to get the Double Din cage in. Got the ability to link to reverse camera and also uses standard Android Apps so I use a large speed overlay which makes seeing your speed easier.

There is a review on the main forum page but you certainly don’t have to spend that kind of money. Bought mine a couple of years ago for £495 of the Internet. They have gone up since but certainly a good buy.

...the sat-nav probably won't have free (or any) upgrades...

If you get a head unit with Android Auto or Apple Carplay, then you don't have to worry about updating as it's just displaying maps (and real time traffic) straight from your phone. Waaaay more advanced that most satnavs.

I do agree that putting all your eggs in one basket can lead to compromises. The main issue I had was cost. I just got a cheapest radio I could find that had DAB and Bluetooth. Phone is my satnav, piping sound through the speakers and my reversing camera uses a screen where the rear view mirror should be.
