HI there are one or two previous threads on this subject but would like to get any useful opinions on this situation.
I have a new MH on order on the Fiat Ducato 2.2 chassis. There have been major issues with the Fiat supply chain and our delivery date which was October 23 ( orderd Oct 22!) has now slipped to March 24, and in all honesty I would expect that to fall further behind, the way things are more likely June/ July 24!. I have however the opportunity to change the order ( same body different engine and chassis) to an Iveco21 engine and chassis ( 207 bhp). This has a delivery date back to my original order in October 23, which obviously gives me another 6 to 8 months on the road.
My issue is that this is substantially more expensive .I don't mind paying the difference if at the end of the day when we come to sell the MH ( in say 4 to 5 years time) we recoup a substantial part of that difference .
The first question is does anybody know if Iveco based MH's fetch a lot more than the Ducato on the second hand market.?
The second question is, is that difference in purchase cost worth it in driving terms, running costs, mpg. ?
Forgot to mention the punch line, the difference in cost is an eye watering £28,000 including the comfort package , upgrade of engine from 156 bhp, and the Iveco driver assistance package . All things I did not need with the Ducato order.
Any constructive views would be appreciated.

What van is going on top of the chassis? and which IVECO chassis are they offering? I would say the 3 litre IVECO would be quite different to a 2.2 Fiat, you will get more torque for sure and a decent 8 speed ZF auto, rear wheel drive and much better traction, most likely a diff lock as standard and I would think rear air with the option of full air possibly. The drive will be different for sure so maybe a test drive would help, do you have to take the driver assistance package as that is about £7k I think. Will it be more desirable in the future? I would say yes.

So it’s on the 50C chassis which I have no direct experience of, Steve and Denise knows this chassis better than me.

I do know somebody who has just bought a MORELO home on the same chassis and said it drove lovely but he was moving from a bigger older IVECO daily.

I think that if the vast majority of Carthago Liners are sold on the Ducato base it would make reselling an Iveco based one look expensive, unless you find a buyer who knows the difference.

From my experience the Iveco is much, much better to drive than a Ducato, even without rear air or full air. Adding rear or full air makes it better still (but more money again).

If you are likely to keep the motorhome for a good number of years and are spending all that amount of money, I personally would go for it.
If you are likely to be changing it in 3 years I think you would lose a good chunk of the extra cost.
BUT it's your choice at the end of the day.

The timescales are also appealing, as in getting it probably a year earlier….

Iveco chassis being RWD is much much better suited to larger Motorhomes like the Liner you’ve ordered. ✔️
I think you will find the liner for two is only a small van compared to a liner class van usually over 7ton on a 65c chassis and just short of 9 mtrs.
funflair we owned a 50c @5.6ton but found the drive not good at al due to rocking and swaying while traveling only rear air and no active damping, we upgraded to a 60c 6.7 ton same van totally different drive but still changed the shockers also front air drives very well but pit holes are always a pain on any Motorhome 👍
