Have seen recommendations for Magic Rafter - I see there is also a Tension Rafter.

One goes side-to-side the other goes front-to-back.

Is it a matter of using one or the other?

Or can can both be used together - and if so is it a good combination?

I think they would get in each others way. Probably one or the other
They both do the same ie tensioning the awning and preventing it being pushed back against the spring pressure of the arms which is quite weak .

I carry the curved tension rafter which I used to use when I had the safari room, I also bought the Magic rafter pro which is in my garage. I suppose that you could use both but as discussed in recent threads if it’s that windy it’s best to put the awning away.
I think that I also have a Magic rafter as well which I used on the front of the awning wall.
I need to put them back onto the classified ads.

We've got a regular straight Rafter and the elevated Magic Rafter Pro. We use both together along with tie downs. Keeps the canopy much less creaky and flappy and it can stay out on higher breezes.

I don't really know what the difference between the two is, but having had the curved with a Fiamma and now have got a Thule/Dometic awning, I wish there were something similar available for them.

Rafter goes out between the van and the edge of the awning.

Magic Rafter Pro braces between the arms.
